Annie Lennox “Many Rivers to Cross” from Idol Gives Back

One of the most stirring and emotional performances on last night’s American Idol – Idol Gives Back special was Annie Lennox walking on to a darkened stage wearing a HIV Positive t-shirt and sitting at her piano. Annie and Bono appeared in a video with a family that had been devestated by AIDS. This is her performance. Is Annie Lennox HIV positive? Annie Lennox is not HIV positive but she supports patients of the disease. Lennox said she wore the T shirt with the words, “HIV Positive”. The back of the T shirt has the words, “Fighting HIV/ Aids”.

Annie Lennox said she wants to use her campaign SING to spread the message about HIV positive sufferers. Lennox said she was aware of the social stigma attached to HIV positive sufferers so she thought that one way of fighting this would be to normalize HIV.

Annie Lennox was honored with the 2009 Woman of Peace Award for her contribution to the HIV Positive / Aids campaign. Lennox’s efforts were mainly in South Africa’s women and children.
