Neil Best of Newsday, who has been way ahead of the pack on this story and reported in June that a split was near, writes that Russo is expected to land at Sirius Satellite Radio. Funny or Die Paris Hilton Makes Political Commercial

Funny or Die has become a valuable comedic resource in the last several years. Will Ferrell used Funny or Die for his famous "Landlord" viral comedy bits, Judd Apatow often uses Funny or Die for promotional comedy sketches for his movies, and other comedy fans and comedians have used Funny or Die for various reasons. But not many people would expect Paris Hilton to find a use for the Funny or Die website. That is, until John McCain's now famous ad linking Barack Obama's type of celebrity to Paris Hilton came out, casing Paris Hilton to fight back using the Funny or Die site. The Paris Hilton commercial on Funny or Die begins by turning McCain's ad around in asking if McCain is "ready to lead" calling McCain "like, super old." The usual "McCain is super old" jokes link him to Larry King, Yoda, Colonial Sanders and other old figures before Paris Hilton herself comes on.

Conservative Cafe

The conservative coffee place in Crown Point, Ind. The underlying supposition that coffee houses are inherently liberal hangouts brought to mind a story told by Warren Hinckle, the San Francisco author and provocateur.Hinckle edited Ramparts, a legendary 1960s leftist magazine, but continued to hang out at what he called "right-wing bars," and once brought Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver with him to one of his favorite San Francisco establishments.

Tuatara

The tuatara is an amniote of the family Sphenodontidae, endemic to New Zealand. The two species of tuatara are the only surviving members of the Sphenodontians which flourished around 200 million years ago,and are in the genus Sphenodon. Tuatara resemble lizards, but are equally related to lizards and snakes, both of which are classified as Squamata, the closest living relatives of tuatara. For this reason, tuatara are of great interest in the study of the evolution of lizards and snakes, and for the reconstruction of the appearance and habits of the earliest diapsids (the group that additionally includes birds and crocodiles).

Tuatara are greenish brown, and measure up to 80 cm (32 in) from head to tail-tip with a spiny crest along the back, especially pronounced in males. Their dentition, in which two rows of teeth in the upper jaw overlap one row on the lower jaw, is unique among living species. They are further unusual in having a pronounced parietal eye, dubbed the "third eye", whose current function is a subject of ongoing research. They are able to hear although no external ear is present, and have a number of unique features in their skeleton, some of them apparently evolutionarily retained from fish. Although tuatara are sometimes called "living fossils", recent taxonomic and molecular work has shown that they have changed significantly since the Mesozoic era.

The tuatara has been classified as an endangered species since 1895 (the second species, S. guntheri, was not recognised until 1989). Tuatara, like many of New Zealand's native animals, are threatened by habitat loss and the introduced Polynesian Rat (Rattus exulans). They were extinct on the mainland, with the remaining populations confined to 32 offshore islands, until the first mainland release into the heavily fenced and monitored Karori Wildlife Sanctuary in 2005. The name "tuatara" derives from the Māori language, and means "peaks on the back".As with many other Māori loanwords, the plural form is now generally the same as the singular in formal New Zealand English usage. "Tuataras" remains common in less formal speech, particularly among older speakers.

Seven mountaineers die while climbing K2

At least seven mountaineers have died while climbing K2, the second highest mountain in the world. The accident was reportedly caused by a rock slide or an avalanche that severed all the ropes used for ascent and descent.

Initial reports state that seventeen climbers ascended the mountain in two groups, with both reaching the summit successfully. The reports also state that after the avalanche, some climbers attempted to return without ropes. The summit was covered in clouds late yesterday afternoon and the conditions in the mountain continued to deteriorate. Some of the latest reports indicate that eight climbers were stuck at the summit, unable to descend. Four of these climbers are Norwegian nationals. The conditions at the summit during night are extreme and offer very limited chances for survival for people unable to descend.

In an unrelated incident, a Serbian climber and his sherpa fell down during the initial descent. This incident was, however, unrelated to the the other deaths caused by the avalanche.

UN renews Darfur peacekeeping

The United Nations Security Council has extended its mandate for the joint UN-African Union peacekeeping force in the Darfur area of Sudan. The resolution, adopted to extend the United Nations/African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) mission, was approved by 14 of the 15 Security Council members. The United States abstained from the vote, saying that the language used in the mandate undermined efforts to bring Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to justice for war crimes.

The vote comes a day after the UN responded to a report by the Save Darfur Coalition that said the Darfur peacekeeping force lacks enough personnel and essential equipment. The UNAMID force currently has only 9,500 troops deployed out of an assigned 26,000, which it blames on Security Council bickering and the demands of Sudan's government.

Elon Musk, SpaceX chairman and CEO, did admit that it was "obviously a big disappointment not to reach orbit on this Flight 3 of the Falcon 1," but he has assured the world that his firm won't be wasting any time feeling sorry for itself.

The Falcon 1 was carrying a minuscule satellite dubbed Trailblazer for the Pentagon's Operationally Responsive Space Office, though we've no idea how costly the loss was. Thankfully, we can all look forward to SpaceX trying again sometime in the future, but unless the tables turn in a hurry, we'd say the odds are still stacked against it.

G.M. Loses $15.5 Billion

The General Motors Corporation reported a stunning second-quarter loss of $15.5 billion on Friday because of a dramatic decline in United States sales and charges for job cuts, plant closings and the falling value of trucks and sport utility vehicles.

G.M., the largest American automaker, said it lost $6.3 billion on operations in the quarter that ended June 30, and its worldwide revenues fell 18 percent.

But the company’s overall loss was inflated by $9.1 billion in special charges that included $3.3 billion for buyouts of hourly workers and $2.8 billion related to the bankruptcy filing of its former parts unit, the Delphi Corporation.

The dismal earnings reflected the impact of steadily falling vehicles sales in the overall United States market, and a huge shift by consumers away from the trucks and S.U.V.’s that were once G.M.’s most profitable vehicles.

Water on Mars, Water Found on Mars

Since surviving the 7 minutes of terror descending through the Martian atmosphere on May 25, the Phoenix Mars Lander has scooped, tested, and found water in the Red Planet's northern plains. There were scooping issues as the samples they collected were turning into a sticky substance that was hard to get into the ovens for testing. But working around where the sun is at certain times, they've been able to deliver samples to the oven and mass spectrometers, which have led to the greatest discovery man has seen in over a week.

Seriously, though, it's pretty sweet. Beyond the fact that we can take pride in the fact that we actually did it, we can also continue to test the surface to see about sustaining plant life and maybe eventually human life.

AICAR, protect against gaining weight on a high fat diet

AICAR experiments suggest that it might protect against gaining weight on a high-fat diet, which might make it useful for treating obesity, Evans said. But it would have to be taken for a long time, he said, so its safety in people would have to be assured.

Experts who study muscle agreed that a drug like AICAR may prove useful someday in treating obesity and diabetes. Many drug companies are working on such drugs in diabetes because in animals, AICAR stimulates muscles to remove sugar from the blood, noted Laurie Goodyear of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.People who can't exercise because of a medical condition like joint pain or heart failure might also benefit from such a drug, experts said.

But Eric Hoffman of the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., noted that AICAR mimics only aerobic exercise, not the strength training that might be more useful to bedridden people or the elderly, for example. He also cautioned that it's not clear whether the new mouse results can be reproduced in people.Goodyear said exercise has such widespread benefits in the body that she doubts any one pill will ever be able to supply all of them. "For the majority of people," she said, "it would be better to do exercise than to take a pill."

Tips proper diet plan with acid reflux disease diet

Proper diet plan is one of the best ways to help prevent acid reflux and heartburn.

This is also a great way to generally get into better shape, as the diet you plan can affect you in many different ways beyond simply just preventing your acid reflux. The acid reflux disease diet that you choose can be very important as to the rest of your life, giving you the great opportunity to prevent all sorts of other digestive problems that may be related to acid reflux and keeping you in better, general shape. This proves that there is more than one good reason to start an acid reflux disease diet. This diet involves cutting out a lot of foods that aggravate the symptoms of acid reflux.

Foods with a lot of spice or pepper in them are generally discouraged from the list, as are fruits and vegetables that are especially gassy. These foods do nothing but rip and tear at the digestive system in terms of acid reflux, making them a very unwelcome addition to the acid reflux disease diet. The unfortunate thing is that you may, in fact, be cutting out some rather healthy options for the rest of your overall balanced health, but these can be replaced with the right supplements and additional nutrients from other sources.

Cutting, Picking, And Choosing

As you pick what foods you are going to drop from your regular diet, you should replace them with a suitable alternative so that your body does not create other problems because of a lack of a certain vitamin or nutritional entity. Always consult a medical professional before going on any sort of serious diet as it could seriously impact your health if you make the wrong choices. You should always have your health in mind, first and foremost, even before discomfort and other painful problems. Your acid reflux disease diet is important but it must not rob the body of proper nutrition. You need to be quite selective in terms of what you will cut out because any sort of improper impact to the makeup of your body's nutrition could end up causing you far worse problems than acid reflux. This, unfortunately, is a part of creating a diet that can cut away some of the vital nutrients of an overall healthy eating plan. To create the best acid reflux disease diet, you should ensure that you always replace something you have taken out with a suitable alternative and always consult a dietician or a doctor for more help if you are unsure of what to do.

Tips To Increse Google Adesense Profits (Google Affiliate)

5 simple steps that will help you get started towards greater adsense earnings :

  • Best Ad Unit
The one ad format that seems to consistently earn more then any other ad and also the one that is favored by the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This ad format has the ability to create a higher CTR, or the click-through rates.

  • Use Custom Color Palettes
Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

  • Adsense Placement
Adsense ad placement is a place where many webmaster leave money on the table. You see they sign up and get the ad units up and on their site. However, they bury the ads down at the bottom of the page well hidden from most users.

  • Automate Ads
Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the web pages using SSI (or server side included).

These are a few of the most basic and starting tips that have worked well for those who generate hundreds and even thousands from their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them.

It’s Halloween time !!!

That means candy! You can’t walk more than 10 feet without seeing something about child obesity in America, and yet no one cares at all when it comes to Halloween. It’s like a modern day Hansel and Gretel, only instead of being shoved into an oven by a witch the kids are going to suffer a slow death due to heart disease and diabetes. However, some of you will resist the pull of sweets and try to give out alternative treats.

Here then are a few guidelines to help you make your Halloween decisions easier :

  • Fruit Let me start out by stating it plain: Fruit has no place on Halloween. 364 other days of the year, sure, get healthy.
  • Money Overall, giving out money is a pretty poor strategy. When I was a kid, if someone gave change, the thought process was, “come on! Where’s the candy!” Kids will think you were too lazy to go out and buy a few bags of candy
  • Gift Certificates Gift certificates are a safe and simple way to give stuff out. Unfortunately, they take away the immediate gratification element of Halloween. It’s like when a well meaning aunt gives you a U.S. Treasury Bond on your eighth birthday it’s all very nice and practical, but you can’t very well unwrap it and go play with it that day.
  • Toothbrushes and Floss Hard to believe, but it happens. I would love to be inside of the head of someone who makes the decision to give out toothbrushes on Halloween.
  • Informational Pamphlets I read a comment from someone who said that in his neighborhood there were two houses that would hand out pamphlets explaining why Halloween is Satanic.

Tips : Cruise Line Tips

A lot of people are discovering the fun of cruise vacation each year. You will want to do a little research before taking cruise vacation. How long are cruises? The 3-day weekend, 4-day midweek, week long, 10 day are all popular. Is it possible to go on a cruise by yourself? Yes, it is possible. But if you go by yourself, the rate can be as high as 200%. You will probably end up paying for two cruises, if you go by yourself. If you really cant find anyone, you may want to find a single share program. Basically, the cruise line will help you find a roommate. Even if they cant find a partner for you, you will probably get the cabin at the cheaper rate. If you are lucky, you may find a great friend. However, it is also possible that you may end up with a bad roommate.

The type of cruise you pick will make a difference in your vacation. So you want to pick it carefully. You want to do research to make sure that you pick the best one. Cruise ship is your whole vacation. The great cruise for your friends may be the worst cruise for you.

Tips Keep Your Home Safe and Secure

Keep Your Home Safe and Secure is an important task in this day and age - before you decide what home security systems to implement, take all factors into consideration, such as the location of your home and the crime levels where you live. Depending on where you live, a home alarm system may be something you must have, or an extra precaution to ensure your family is safe and protected. Home alarm systems have been proven to safeguard your home, and insurance companies even offer discounts on your premium if you install a home security system, so there are several benefits to setting up equipment that will monitor your home and keep burglars away. Fewer claims come from families that have extra security precautions, which is why you can get a lower insurance rate by installing a home alarm system. And of course, the money you save on insurance will help pay for the system itself, so it’s a win-win situation all around.

Burglar alarms are effective at keeping criminals away from your home when you’re present at the residence and when no one is home. There are different security systems for different needs, but if you plan on having the most protection possible, consider purchasing a system that works well whether you’re home or not. An attempted burglary while everyone is home can be a very scary experience, so it pays to make sure all bases are covered. Basic security uses contact sensors on doors and windows, with a couple of infrared sensors for the interior of the house - these systems usually also come with a control panel and alarm sounder. Some security systems are even equipped to deal with other emergency situations, including fire, smoke, dangerous gases, and flooding. The system you end up buying should fit your specific needs and the requirements of your home.

Home security systems work on many levels to protect your family - they provide prevention, by scaring and deterring intruders, and detection by letting you know when someone has entered the premises. They also offer emergency help by putting you directly in contact with help, such as the police and 911.

Tips Put Your List Building Efforts Into Overdrive

List building can be a very long process, but you have some options that will put your list building efforts on a much higher level:

1. Give people a free report to sign up for your list: If you have some articles about your niche that you’ve already submitted to directories or used on your web site, they’re very easy to put together into a report. If you don’t have articles to use, buy some private label rights articles and create a report with them. Then, on your list building page, just above the opt-in box, you might insert, “Sign up for your free report on ‘Making Your First Million Online’,” or whatever your niche is. Or, use the report as the purpose for people to come to your list building page entirely. Either way, you’ll see a rapid increase in sign-ups.

2. Find a good co-registration service: Co-registration is when your newsletter, ezine, or mailing list is advertised alongside the advertisements for other newsletters, ezines, or mailing lists. My free site List Hero is a co-registration site, for instance, but you can also join places like List Opt or List Builder Pro. With a free service, you simply advertise the co-registration box on your web site, as a pop-up or pop-under. You earn credits for showing the opt-in box and for each credit you accumulate, your ad is shown somewhere else. Or, some services just advertise your site for you. These are usually paid co-reg services, and the prices vary. Usually, you buy a certain number of subscribers each month, depending on how fast you want your list to grow and how much you want to spend. Whatever you decide, co-registration is a quick way to get things moving.

3. JV: Joint venturing is working with another business to grow your list faster. You can do this in several different ways, of course, but I found the fastest way is by setting up a teleseminar. So, you call the other business owner and say, “I’d like to help you sell your product. Would you be willing to do a teleseminar with me about…” and it would be something that solves a problem for the people in your niche. For instance, if your niche is golf and the other businessperson sells golf clubs, you might have a teleseminar about using the best putter or driver or whatever. Then, you get the other person to mail to their list and send them to your list building page. Voila! Instant list building. You can drive targeted web site traffic there in several different ways, too.

Of course, there are many ways to go about list building. These are just three of the quickest ways I know to make it happen. If you have some money to spend and don’t want to waste much time, then co-registration may be the ticket. Or, if you want to build business relationships, try a joint venture. But if you’re really new and don’t have a very big budget, then you may just want to compile a report and let it work for you. Each way has advantages and drawbacks, but whatever you decide all of these ways will really improve your list building efforts, almost overnight.

Mesothelioma Cure, Treatment

For treating cancer mesothelioma, I have already mentioned in other articles of mesothelioma, that this cancer is a rare cancer which has a very long time to appear in the human body, the symptoms of the disease take many years from 30 to 50 years. For this problem, the discovery of mesothelioma, cancer is very difficult.

The other problem with the discovery of mesothelioma, cancer is the similarity of signs of that disease to signs of other illness and diseases. The diagnosis of mesothelioma is difficult. SO, the diagnosis of this process takes a lot of transactions to be attained.

What are the options to treat mesothelioma cancer? There are three options for the primary treatment.

The surgery option, the most powerful method to treat mesothelioma tumors, by eliminating the affected parts and the nearest parts surround tumors. The surgeon may remove the entire lung if the cases seriously overdue.

The 2nd option is chemotherapy, "another option" to treat the tumors, by allowing some patients to take some types of chemical drugs, that the parties involved in the whole blood and can destroy tumor cells. This option can be used alongside the option of the surgery.

3rd mesothelioma option is radiotherapy, by moving some radiation that have the ability to destroy the cells. This option can be used, depending on the case and after the option of the surgery to destroy the remaining cancer cells. Please, consult your doctor to choose the most suitable treatment option for your case.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Peritoneal Mesothelioma The Cancer Of Abdominal Lining. One of the fatal types of mesothelioma is Peritoneal Mesothelioma in which the cancerous cells attack the lining of the abdomen called Peritoneum. Peritoneum is the thin membrane, which shields various organs of the abdomen and also provides a lubricating fluid to enable the organs to move and work properly. Peritoneal Mesothelioma, which affects this lining, is yet now a relatively rare disease that accounts for about 1/5 of all mesotheliomas. Its only known cause in the U.S. till date is previous exposure to asbestos.

Major symptoms

Though Mesothelioma is neither age nor sex specific, peritoneal Mesothelioma is mostly seen in men who are in the age group of 50-70 years. There are a number of symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma most of which start appearing after 20, 30 or 50 years after the exposure to asbestos. These symptoms may include weight loss (however, waist line may increase), pain or swelling in the abdomen, weakness, loss of appetite, bowel obstruction, anemia, nausea and fever. Also, fluid often accumulates in the peritoneal space leading to a condition called Ascites.

Diagnosis of peritoneal mesothelioma

The initial step towards detection of peritoneal mesothelioma includes X-rays and CT scans. For confirmed diagnosis, however the doctor needs to do biopsy whereby a piece of tissue is cut from the affected part of the victims body and is placed under microscope for examination. If the disease is detected at an early stage it stands better chance of getting cured than the state of diffuse peritoneal mesothelioma, where the cancer has already spread to various parts.

The cure

Its true that peritoneal mesothelioma is fatal and leads to several deaths every year. However, with continued researches, several modes of treatments have been embarked upon and in the future there is a fair chance of the disease becoming absolutely curable. The types of treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

In surgery a part of the abdominal tissue is cut out to remove the tumor. At times the doctor may also need to remove a lung or a portion of the diaphragm as per the requirement of the surgery. Radiation therapy, the second method, requires the application of high energy X-rays to shrink the tumor and kill the malignant cells. The rays may be applied from an external machine or by placing the radiation source directly to the affected part of the body, by means of plastic tubes. Last treatment type is the chemotherapy whereby a combination of drugs is applied to kill the cancer cells. The drugs may be administered by mouth in the capsule form or may be applied intravenously via needle.

However, it is essential to mention that cost of treating any form of cancer is extravagant and you may consult a mesothelioma lawyer to earn you a handsome compensation from the authority who was responsible for your prior exposure to asbestos.

Law lemon wisconsin

Lemon laws are American state laws that provide a remedy for purchasers of cars that repeatedly fail to meet standards of quality and performance. These cars are called lemons. The federal lemon law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) protects citizens of all states. State lemon laws vary by state and may not necessarily cover used or leased cars. The rights afforded to consumers by lemon laws may exceed the warranties expressed in purchase contracts. Lemon law is the common nickname for these laws, but each state has different names for the laws and acts.

In California, lemon laws cover anything mechanical, as do the federal lemon laws. The federal lemon law also provides that the warranter may be obligated to pay your attorney fees if you prevail in a lemon law suit, as do most state lemon laws.

Tips to save money

How to Save Money

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Saving money is one of those tasks that's so much easier said than done. There's more to it than spending less money (although that part alone can be challenging). How much money will you save, where will you put it, and how can you make sure it stays there? Here's how to set realistic goals, keep your spending in check, and pay yourself first.

Steps

  1. Set savings goals. For short-term goals, this is easy. If you want to buy a video game, find out how much it costs; if you want to buy a house, determine how much of a down payment you’ll need. For long-term goals, such as retirement, you’ll need to do a lot more planning (figuring out how much money you’ll need to live comfortably for 20 or 30 years after you stop working), and you’ll also need to figure out how investments will help you achieve your goals.
    • Kill your debt first. Simply calculating how much you spend each month on your debts will illustrate that eliminating debt is the fastest way to free up money. Once the money is freed from debt payment, it can easily be re-purposed to savings.

  2. Establish a timeframe. For example: "I want to be able to buy a house two years from today." Set a particular date for accomplishing shorter-term goals, and make sure the goal is attainable within that time period. If it’s not attainable, you’ll just get discouraged.
  3. Figure out how much you’ll have to save per week, per month, or per paycheck to attain each of your savings goals. Take each thing you want to save for and figure out how much you need to start saving now. For most savings goals, it’s best to save the same amount each period. For example, if you want to put a $20,000 down payment on a home in 36 months (three years), you’ll need to save about $550 per month every month. But if your paychecks amount to $1000, it might not be a realistic goal, so adjust your timeframe until you come up with an approachable amount.
  4. Keep a record of your expenses. What you save falls between two activities and their difference: how much you make and how much you spend. Since you have more control over how much you spend, it's wise to take a critical look at your expenses. Write down everything you spend your money on for a couple weeks or a month. Be as detailed as possible, and try not to leave out small purchases. Assign each purchase or expenditure a category such as: Rent, Car insurance, Car payments, Phone Bill, Cable Bill, Utilities, Gas, Food, Entertainment, etc.
    • Keep a small notebook with you at all times. Get in the habit of recording every expense and saving the receipts.
    • Sit down once a week with your small notebook and receipts. Record your expenses in a larger notebook or a spreadsheet program.

  5. Trim your expenses. Take a good, hard look at your spending records after a month or two have passed. You’ll probably be surprised when you look back at your record of expenses: $300 on ice cream, $100 on parking tickets? You’ll likely see some obvious cuts you can make. Depending on how much you need to save, however, you may need to make some difficult decisions. Think about your priorities, and make cuts you can live with. Calculate how much those cuts will save you per year, and you'll be much more motivated to pinch pennies.
    • Can you move to a less expensive apartment or house? Can you refinance your mortgage?
    • Can you consolidate your debts so that you're not paying as much interest?
    • Can you save money on gas, or give up a car altogether? If your family has multiple cars, can you bring it down to one?
    • Can you drop a land line and only use your cell phone?
    • Can you live without cable or satellite TV?
    • Can you cut down on your utility bills?
    • Can you restrict eating out? Buy food in bulk? Cook more at home? You might be able to save a lot of money on food.

  6. Reassess your savings goals. Subtract your expenses (the ones you can't live without) from your take-home income (i.e. after taxes have been taken out). What is the difference? And does it match up with your savings goals? Let's say you've decided you can definitely get by on $1500 per month, and your paychecks amount to $2300 per month. That leaves you with $800 to save. If there’s absolutely no way you can fit all your savings goals into your budget, take a look at what you’re saving for and cut the less important things or adjust the timeframe. Maybe you need to put off buying a new car for another year, or maybe you don’t really need a big-screen TV that badly.
  7. Make a budget. Once you’ve managed to balance your earnings with your savings goals and spending, write down a budget so you’ll know each month or each paycheck how much you can spend on any given thing or category of things. This is especially important for expenses which tend to fluctuate, or which you know you're going to have a particularly hard time restricting. (E.g. "I will only spend $30 a month on movies/chocolate/coffee/etc.")
  8. Stop using credit cards. Pay for everything with cash or money orders. Don't even use checks. It's easier to overspend when you're pulling from a bank or credit account because you don't know exactly how much is in there. If you have cash, you can see your supply running low. You can even bundle up the predetermined amount of cash allocated for each expense with a label or keep separate jars for each expense (e.g. a bundle/jar for coffee, another for gas, another for miscellaneous). As you pull money from a jar for that particular expense, you'll see how much remains and you'll also be reminded of your limit.
    • If you need to have credit cards but you don't want the temptation of having them available to use day-to-day, restrict that section of your wallet with a note or picture reminding you of your savings goals.
    • Credit cards are not inherently evil; it's all about your self control. If you use them responsibly (i.e. completely pay them off every month), you can benefit from them. But the reason most credit card companies make money, however, is because people end up spending money that they don't have. Unless you are one of the people who can religiously pay off the balance in full every month, you're better off foregoing the promotions that credit card companies use to lure you in (cash back, introductory APR, airline miles, and so on).

  9. Open an interest-bearing savings account. It’s a lot easier to keep track of your savings if you have them separate from your spending money. You can also usually get better interest on savings accounts than on checking accounts (if you get interest on your checking account at all). Consider higher-interest options such as CDs or money-market accounts for longer savings goals.
  10. Know where your money is. And how much of it, too. If you accidentally overdraw your bank account, you will incur hefty bank fees; worse yet, the place you paid with that check may slap a bounced check fee on top of that, and send the check in again, resulting in a second overdraft fee from the bank! So just a few cents missing to cover that check could result in over $100 in fees. To avoid that, you should always know how much money you've got in your account(s), so you never cut a check for more than what you have.
  11. Pay yourself first. Savings should be your priority, so don’t just say that you’ll save whatever’s left over at the end of the month. Deposit savings into an account (or your piggybank) as soon as you get paid. An easy, effective way to start saving is to simply deposit 10% of every check in a savings account. If you get a check or sum of cash, say 710.68, move the decimal point one place to the left and deposit that amount: 71.07. This works well and requires little thought; over several years, you've a tidy sum in savings. Over decades, you'll be a millionaire.
    • You can set up an automatic transfer from your checking account to your savings account.
    • Many employers allow you to deduct savings from your paycheck. The money is directly deposited in your savings account so you never even see it on your paycheck.
    • You can also have investments for retirement taken directly out of your pay, and the taxes may be deferred with this option.

Tips

  • Have a professional shopper go through your closet before you hit the mall. They will help you assess what you already have and what timeless items you can invest in to create more looks from those you already have. There are services that do this (e.g. Visual Therapy in NYC and TimePros in Los Angeles).
  • Have a hobby? Match your funds. One important habit for saving is if you have a hobby, such as model airplanes, scrapbooking, dirt biking, scuba diving, etc., set a hard and fast rule that whatever you allow yourself to spend on your hobby, you match those funds to your savings. For example, if you buy yourself a $45 pair of riding gloves, another $45 goes to your savings. Serious about saving? Try doubling your matched funds! These savings plans will do two things: Save money regularly and quickly, and really show you how much you are spending on your hobby, when it costs you twice as much.
  • If you receive unexpected cash, put all or most of it into your savings, but continue to set aside your regularly scheduled amount as well. You’ll reach your savings goals sooner.
  • Make purchases with paper money, not exact change, and always save the change. Use a piggy bank or jar for your coins. Coins and change may look insignificant but when accumulated over time they can help you save. Some banks now offer free coin counting machines. When you redeem your coins, ask to be paid by check so you won't be tempted to spend your newfound cash.
  • If you are small, try buying children's clothes rather than adult's as they are usually cheaper. A small slim woman could quite easily fit into an age 14 pair of trousers, for instance, although do try to make sure you always look age/situation appropriate. If you see a more expensive item of clothing that you like, only buy it if you know you will get plenty of wear out of it. It might hurt leaving that beautiful dress in the shop, but you would feel worse if you spent a lot of money but hardly ever wore it!

Warnings

  • Do not go out "window shopping" with any money on you. You will only be tempted to spend money you cannot afford to lose. Only shop with a predetermined shopping list.
  • After a long week of working, you may want to indulge in some luxury, telling yourself, "I deserve this". Remember that the things you buy are not gifts to yourself; they are trades, products for money. Say, "Of course I deserve this, but can I afford it? If I can't afford it, I'm still a worthy person, and I still deserve to meet my savings goals!"
  • Unless you're in truly desperate financial straits (like 10 seconds from eviction and your three children are starving) don't try to cut corners connected to health. Basic preventative care for yourself, your family, and your pets might cost you a $60 office visit or a $30 heartworm pill today, but the skipping it will contribute to expensive problems and heartache down the road.

Tips to lose weight fast

How to lose weight fast

Overweight risk your health. For those who desire to lose weight and obtain optimal health, sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start.

So, why are people overweight? Here are 11 of the most common reasons:

1. Slow metabolism: People who are overweight have a hard time burning off food. As a result, the fat is stored.

2. Emotional eating: Those who struggle with weight often eat when stressed or when other emotional upheavals are happening in their life.

3. Hormonal imbalances.

4. Eating portions that are too large.

5. Eating lots of "diet food" (that is low fat,low carb, and "sugar free" foods). Kevin explains in the book why this is a problem.

6. Build up of toxins in the body.

7. Eating late: Late-night eating can cause food to convert to fat more easily.

8. High susceptibility to growth hormones: These hormones are given to animals to help them grow faster and larger, so meat and dairy have residual growth hormones. In humans, these hormones can result in increased fat storage.

9. Not eating breakfast.

10. Numerous diets: Going from diet to diet has a negative impact on the metabolism and causes weight loss to be much more difficult.

11. Food ingredients: The reasons why are amazing and beyond the scope of this article. Readers are encouraged to read for themselves Kevin's two books.

Tip #3: Drink distilled water throughout the day: Eight glasses is recommended

Tip #4: Walk non-stop one hour each day: This doesn't have to be power walking; just walk at your own pace. Walking outdoors is best.
