Lois Maxwell aka Miss Moneypenny, Died RIP

The Canadian actress who lived in Australia starred alongside Sir Sean Connery in the first Bond film, Dr No in 1962. She then went on to play M’s secretary in her final Bond movie, A View To A Kill with Roger Moore.

Moore called Maxwell his ‘lucky token’ and said she would be remembered with ‘great affection’,

“She will certainly be missed by me, and I’m sure by millions of fans around the world.”

Although she was succeeded by Caroline Bliss and Samantha Bond, many fans still believe Maxwell to be the definitive Miss Moneypenny. Lois Maxwell’s last movie role was in 2001 in the thriller The Fourth Angel

Born Lois Hooker in Ontario she tried to break Hollywood in the late 1940’s and won a Golden Globe Award as Best Newcomer for her role in the 47 Shirley Temple comedy That Hagen Girl.
