Johnny Depp Singing
The upcoming Sweeney Todd movie, but we’ve not really seen whether Johnny Depp can actually sing or not. Yes, we’ve seen him sort of speak-sing in the trailer, but the clip below really shows off his vocal talents.

End hunt for missing Madeleine McCann
Portuguese detectives are to end their hunt for missing child Madeleine McCann; just one month after the elite team of senior officers took charge of the investigation. The reason that detectives might end the hunt for the missing child is because they are no nearer to finding the child. Although there have been a few developments and many sightings, it seems as if police are no closer to finding the missing girl. If this reports are true then this could be a major setback for Madeleine McCann’s parents Gerry and Kate, and it looks as they will have to face the prospect that they will not find their girl.

8,000 sailors and airmen are going to be spending thanksgiving on the aircraft carrier the USS Kitty Hawk,On Thursday the Chinese government denied the carrier access to the Hong Kong port.

Warhound: Bungie game engine
“Warhound”, which some gamers claim is just a wannabe compared to Crysis but I feel it has the game engine that Bungie should have had in Halo 3.
Although looking at the game trailer below, the menu looks like the Playstation 3 dash XD (do you think so).We currently do not know a lot about Warhound, but I will certainly be keeping an eye on it.

Flashing Pacifiers by Sailing Recalled
Sailing (U.S.) International Corp in conjunction with The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of their Flashing Pacifiers and there is a risk of choking. Consumers have been asked to stop using the product immediately. The reason why 8,000 of the flashing pacifiers have been recalled is the fact that the nipple can become detached from its base; this can cause a choking hazard for young children. As of yet there are no reports on any injury, and as you would expect has been manufactured in China.

Is not the Stores Open on Thanksgiving but Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season in the United States. Since Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late as the 29th day of November. Great giblet gravy
Dad’s Giblet Gravy
Ingredients:
Giblets (gizzard, neck, heart and liver), removed from turkey cavity and washed
1 onion, cut in half
1 stick of celery, cut into four or five pieces.
1 large carrot, peeled and cut into four or five pieces
4 cloves of garlic, peeled
1 bay leaf
1 stick of butter
8 tablespoons of flour
1-2 teaspoons of turmeric
1-2 teaspoons of paprika
2-3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce (can add more to taste)
1 cup of turkey pan drippings
Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
1. Place the giblets in a pot with the onion halves, celery, carrots, garlic cloves and bay leaf, and cover with 8 cups of water.
2. Bring to a boil, and then turn heat down to low, simmering the stock for an hour and a half, stirring occasionally.
3. Remove giblets and chop meat into small cubes.
4. Remove aromatics and strain the stock (should have about 5 cups).
5. To make your roux, in a pot heated on medium-low, melt the butter and then slowly add the flour. Constantly stir the flour and butter for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture is golden and tan. (Here’s a wonderful tutorial on making roux.)
6. Add the giblet stock, chopped giblet meat and pan drippings, and then add the spices and Worcestershire sauce, turn the heat up to medium-high and bring to a boil. (Dad uses Lawry’s Seasoned Salt instead of the turmeric and paprika, and if you prefer, you can use it, too.)
7. When mixture boils, quickly turn heat back down to medium-low and continue stirring until thick.
8. Adjust seasonings to taste.
Makes 6 cups.
Notes: Lots of people, such as my grandmother, like to add a sliced hard-boiled egg to their giblet gravy. I always found this horrifying, but many people enjoy this so feel free to add one if you like. You can make the gravy the day before using chicken stock instead of the pan drippings. It keeps in the fridge for three days and it can also be frozen.

Food; Alice Waters Cooks Her Turkey Too Long

Now that the suicide-and-euphoria holidays of late '99 are a distant memory (like childbirth, the pain of which is forgotten or no one would ever go through it again), and no one wants to hear how to really cook a turkey, it is probably the perfect moment to do exactly that. Procrastinators can rejoice that they have 249 (or 281) days to plan but not execute, and the better-adjusted can analyze leisurely instead of rushing to the stove, ripped magazine recipe in hand, on Thanksgiving or Christmas morning. And tortured perfectionists like Barbra Streisand can practice, practice, practice.
But a superbly roasted turkey (or any other poultry, for that matter) is as welcome at any time of year as it is unusual. The difficulty, as we have been told almost daily for the last quarter-century, is to cook the bird's drumsticks and thighs sufficiently without turning the white meat into flannel.
All sorts of well-intentioned tricks are urged to moisturize the breast meat. Julia Child is said to massage butter between the breast and the skin, which lubricates the breast but makes the texture of the meat greasy and the taste overly buttery.
Martha Stewart dips cheesecloth in melted butter, then drapes it over the white meat, but the melted butter fails to penetrate the more-or-less waterproof turkey skin. When not piously obsessing over the genealogy of those annoying little vegetables (and their farmers), Alice Waters soaks the entire fowl in a home-concocted brine for 72 hours. This step is indeed helpful, and I recommend it. Unfortunately, Waters then defeats herself by keeping the bird in the oven far too long. No one, it seems, can remedy this quandary but me.
There are two solutions. For those with successful Nasdaq portfolios, it's simple: buy two turkeys and cook one for the white meat and the other for the dark, then discard the overcooked white of one and the undercooked dark of the other. For the rest of you, listen up. Your 12-pound dinner will be out of the oven in two hours, your 16-pounder in two and a half and your 20-pounder done perfectly in three.
Based on Karen Hess's method, which appeared in The New York Times 26 years ago, a 12-pound turkey is stuffed, slathered with a stick of butter, roasted at a very high temperature, first on one side, then the other, and basted every 20 minutes or so. True, all the basting is a nuisance, and the smoke caused by the high temperature may result in a call from the Fire Department, but this is a small price to pay for a standing ovation, fan mail and, if you're single, date requests. Your bird will have juicy breasts, pinkless legs and skin as crisp as U.P.S. paper. (The highest compliment my Quincy, Mass., grandmother could give a turkey was to say that its skin was ''just like wrapping paper.'')
Two important don'ts. First, don't truss the animal whether you stuff it or not. For years, I thought trussing was a matter of aesthetics: the perfectly bound, coquettishly trussed bird reminded me of a 50's debutante at a cotillion, not a hair out of place; untrussed, it looked like a ravished hooker, disheveled and eager for more. But by binding the turkey legs together, 15 to 30 minutes must be added to the cooking time so the insides of the thigh and leg can reach the proper temperature -- and at that point about the only thing you can do with the white meat is to use it as Spackle. If the purpose of trussing is to contain stuffing in the body cavity, a simple pin through the skin flap will do that; if the butcher has removed the flap, cover the hole with foil.
Second, don't, as some suggest, pour water into the roasting pan to prevent it from scorching or you'll inadvertently steam the bird. Two tablespoons of oil will prevent this -- as well as neutralize the burning properties of the stick of butter.
To serve 8 people and have leftovers for sandwiches, here's what you do: strangle and pluck a 12-pound turkey, preferably an anarchist that has been allowed to run around and eat grain whenever it wants. Remove whatever is inside (usually a neck and giblets) and cut off the wing tips.
Twenty hours before cooking, swish two cups of kosher salt in two to three gallons of cold water until dissolved (no need to heat it) and submerge the turkey for 12 hours in this brine, using a weight to keep it underwater. (Waters suggests a more complicated mixture, but since the bird is rinsed thoroughly after brining, it just adds unnecessary work.) Either put this brining turkey in the fridge, or if there's no room and the temperature is 33 degrees Fahrenheit and you live on a low floor, put it on the windowsill; or put lots of ice cubes in the brine, adding more when they melt.
After 12 hours, rinse the bird thoroughly, pat it dry and put it in the fridge for seven hours to completely dry its skin -- this will help make it crisp.
Meanwhile, begin your stock by deeply scoring whatever was inside the turkey (except the liver, which may be chopped, sauteed and added to a stuffing) and the wing tips and tossing them into a pot. Add a sliced carrot, a sliced celery stalk, a large quartered onion and a handful of parsley and cover with water or with poultry, veal or beef stock. Simmer for three hours, replenishing the liquid if it gets low or too salty. Because you are in charge, when the stock is done you get to eat the neck, which is delicious. You may also eat the vegetables, which are pretty tasty, too.
One hour before cooking the turkey, remove it from the fridge and let it sit to bring it up to room temperature.
It is now time to turn your oven on to 450 degrees. Pour a couple tablespoons of oil into a roasting pan and either oil a V-shaped, nonadjustable rack or use one that is nonstick. (Adjustable racks are too unreliable and may collapse under the turkey's weight.)
Stuff the turkey and rub its skin with a stick of softened butter. Place it on its side on the rack, place the rack in the roasting pan and the roasting pan into the blistering oven. Roast for 30 minutes. If smoke filters out of your oven, enjoy its spiritual qualities unless something catches on fire. (If, however, your kitchen, the pan juices or the turkey's skin ever approach blackness, turn the oven down to 400, or even 375.)
Baste the turkey with the pan juices. Then take the pan out of the oven, and with wads of wet paper towels (or large forks) placed at either end, turn the turkey over onto its other side, baste it and put it back in the oven. (Turning the thing can get pretty ungraceful, so try not to be photographed right now, and don't try to turn the turkey at oven level unless you're wearing a truss. Instead, lift the pan from the oven rack, closing the oven door with your left heel; place the pan on a steady surface and wrestle the bird to its other side however you can.)
Set the timer for 20 minutes and baste every 20 minutes, four times -- your total cooking time will now be 110 minutes. Again, rotate the by-now-mahoganied beauty back onto its original side, basting everything in sight.
Take the turkey's temperature in the fattest part of its thigh. It should read 135 to 145 degrees. (If it doesn't, leave it in a few more minutes.) If it does, take it out immediately and put it on a platter -- it will continue to cook for the next 20 minutes or so while you make the sauce.
No flour or thickener is used in the sauce because it tastes better without. Pour off half the fat from the bottom of the roasting pan and place the pan over high heat (possibly two burners). Add a cup of the strained turkey stock and deglaze the pan, dislodging everything with a wooden spoon. Taste for saltiness and intensity -- sometimes the sauce can go in those directions. If it does, add another cup of stock and reduce. If it is still too intense or salty, thin with a little water. Add half a cup of Cognac, white wine or dry sherry and bring to a boil or set it afire to cook off the alcohol. This will not make more than one and a half cups of sauce -- a tablespoon or two per serving, which is all that's needed. Some strain this concoction, but I prefer being surprised by tasty little scraps on top of my white meat.
By roasting the turkey on its sides, gravity drips what little fat exists in the dark meat into the white; in addition to the basting, this moistens the meat. Some suggest cooking the bird breast side down until the last 30 minutes, then browning the breast, but this makes basting about six times as difficult and the back of the turkey the brownest part of the body. Don't do it.
Instead, use the technique above. You'll be out of the kitchen an hour earlier than you have been at previous feasts. Your turkey will be sensual with juice. And you'll be a most impressive host for the next national holiday -- the Academy Awards, March 26.
Karen's Sausage, Black Olive and Walnut Stuffing
(Adapted from ''THE TASTE OF AMERICA,'' BY JOHN L. HESS AND KAREN HESS, VIKING, 1977.)
1 pound bulk pork sausage
1 turkey liver, minced
1 cup onions, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup celery, very thinly sliced
1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
1 loaf good bread, sliced
1 cup mild, pitted California-style black olives, sliced
1 cup walnut pieces
1/2 cup Italian parsley, chopped
2 tablespoons Cognac or 4 tablespoons Madeira, port or dry sherry
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/2 to 1 cup stock, depending on desired moistness.
1. Cook the sausage and the minced turkey liver in a large heavy pan over medium heat, stirring until cooked and making sure the sausage meat is well broken up, about 12 minutes.
2. Add the onions, celery and thyme and cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are tender and pale yellow, about 10 minutes.
3. Toast the bread slices and dice; you should have about 3 cups. Place the sausage mixture in a bowl and add the bread.
4. Add the olives, walnut pieces, Italian parsley, Cognac, salt and pepper.
5. Add enough stock so the stuffing will hold together in the bird.
Yield: About 4 cups.

Second, don't, as some suggest, pour water into the roasting pan to prevent it from scorching or you'll inadvertently steam the bird. Two tablespoons of oil will prevent this -- as well as neutralize the burning properties of the stick of butter.
To serve 8 people and have leftovers for sandwiches, here's what you do: strangle and pluck a 12-pound turkey, preferably an anarchist that has been allowed to run around and eat grain whenever it wants. Remove whatever is inside (usually a neck and giblets) and cut off the wing tips.
Twenty hours before cooking, swish two cups of kosher salt in two to three gallons of cold water until dissolved (no need to heat it) and submerge the turkey for 12 hours in this brine, using a weight to keep it underwater. (Waters suggests a more complicated mixture, but since the bird is rinsed thoroughly after brining, it just adds unnecessary work.) Either put this brining turkey in the fridge, or if there's no room and the temperature is 33 degrees Fahrenheit and you live on a low floor, put it on the windowsill; or put lots of ice cubes in the brine, adding more when they melt.
After 12 hours, rinse the bird thoroughly, pat it dry and put it in the fridge for seven hours to completely dry its skin -- this will help make it crisp.
Meanwhile, begin your stock by deeply scoring whatever was inside the turkey (except the liver, which may be chopped, sauteed and added to a stuffing) and the wing tips and tossing them into a pot. Add a sliced carrot, a sliced celery stalk, a large quartered onion and a handful of parsley and cover with water or with poultry, veal or beef stock. Simmer for three hours, replenishing the liquid if it gets low or too salty. Because you are in charge, when the stock is done you get to eat the neck, which is delicious. You may also eat the vegetables, which are pretty tasty, too.
One hour before cooking the turkey, remove it from the fridge and let it sit to bring it up to room temperature.
It is now time to turn your oven on to 450 degrees. Pour a couple tablespoons of oil into a roasting pan and either oil a V-shaped, nonadjustable rack or use one that is nonstick. (Adjustable racks are too unreliable and may collapse under the turkey's weight.)
Stuff the turkey and rub its skin with a stick of softened butter. Place it on its side on the rack, place the rack in the roasting pan and the roasting pan into the blistering oven. Roast for 30 minutes. If smoke filters out of your oven, enjoy its spiritual qualities unless something catches on fire. (If, however, your kitchen, the pan juices or the turkey's skin ever approach blackness, turn the oven down to 400, or even 375.)
Baste the turkey with the pan juices. Then take the pan out of the oven, and with wads of wet paper towels (or large forks) placed at either end, turn the turkey over onto its other side, baste it and put it back in the oven. (Turning the thing can get pretty ungraceful, so try not to be photographed right now, and don't try to turn the turkey at oven level unless you're wearing a truss. Instead, lift the pan from the oven rack, closing the oven door with your left heel; place the pan on a steady surface and wrestle the bird to its other side however you can.)
Set the timer for 20 minutes and baste every 20 minutes, four times -- your total cooking time will now be 110 minutes. Again, rotate the by-now-mahoganied beauty back onto its original side, basting everything in sight.
Take the turkey's temperature in the fattest part of its thigh. It should read 135 to 145 degrees. (If it doesn't, leave it in a few more minutes.) If it does, take it out immediately and put it on a platter -- it will continue to cook for the next 20 minutes or so while you make the sauce.
No flour or thickener is used in the sauce because it tastes better without. Pour off half the fat from the bottom of the roasting pan and place the pan over high heat (possibly two burners). Add a cup of the strained turkey stock and deglaze the pan, dislodging everything with a wooden spoon. Taste for saltiness and intensity -- sometimes the sauce can go in those directions. If it does, add another cup of stock and reduce. If it is still too intense or salty, thin with a little water. Add half a cup of Cognac, white wine or dry sherry and bring to a boil or set it afire to cook off the alcohol. This will not make more than one and a half cups of sauce -- a tablespoon or two per serving, which is all that's needed. Some strain this concoction, but I prefer being surprised by tasty little scraps on top of my white meat.
By roasting the turkey on its sides, gravity drips what little fat exists in the dark meat into the white; in addition to the basting, this moistens the meat. Some suggest cooking the bird breast side down until the last 30 minutes, then browning the breast, but this makes basting about six times as difficult and the back of the turkey the brownest part of the body. Don't do it.
Instead, use the technique above. You'll be out of the kitchen an hour earlier than you have been at previous feasts. Your turkey will be sensual with juice. And you'll be a most impressive host for the next national holiday -- the Academy Awards, March 26.
Karen's Sausage, Black Olive and Walnut Stuffing
(Adapted from ''THE TASTE OF AMERICA,'' BY JOHN L. HESS AND KAREN HESS, VIKING, 1977.)
1 pound bulk pork sausage
1 turkey liver, minced
1 cup onions, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup celery, very thinly sliced
1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
1 loaf good bread, sliced
1 cup mild, pitted California-style black olives, sliced
1 cup walnut pieces
1/2 cup Italian parsley, chopped
2 tablespoons Cognac or 4 tablespoons Madeira, port or dry sherry
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/2 to 1 cup stock, depending on desired moistness.
1. Cook the sausage and the minced turkey liver in a large heavy pan over medium heat, stirring until cooked and making sure the sausage meat is well broken up, about 12 minutes.
2. Add the onions, celery and thyme and cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are tender and pale yellow, about 10 minutes.
3. Toast the bread slices and dice; you should have about 3 cups. Place the sausage mixture in a bowl and add the bread.
4. Add the olives, walnut pieces, Italian parsley, Cognac, salt and pepper.
5. Add enough stock so the stuffing will hold together in the bird.
Yield: About 4 cups.

The film, based on Holly Black’s book, follows the story of a boy who discovers a magical land through reading and a special trinket. The story may sound whimsical, but this film shows that it has the means to be far more than a kids flick.
The film stars Freddie Highmore, who, I have to say, is more talented than some adult actors around! What this movie has that other children’s movies seem to lack is that classic fear factor. We haven’t seen real fear-inducing characters since the likes of the Child Catcher inChitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Sienna Miller looking forward to the G.I Joe movie
wouldn’t like to see it ruined by dodgy casting. The female lead role in a movie like G.I Joe would have to be tough - a girly girl wouldn’t suffice. So, it was a shock when I found out that the female lead has been snapped up by Sienna Miller.
The character Miller is set to play has been described as ‘a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage’. Better get to that salon girl!
The film follows the story of the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity (G.I.J.O.E). This action team finds themselves travelling the world battling the evil COBRA.
There is no word on who will play the male lead, although I’m sure we’ll be hearing soon as the film has a February start date.

Madeleine McCann’s parents, Should They Have Been Charged?
Madeleine McCann’s parents Kate and Gerry will not be charged for child neglect after Tony Bennett a retired solicitor failed in his bid to issue a summons against the pair.
The summons believe that Kate and Gerry neglected their children when they left them in their holiday apartment in Portugal while they went for a meal in the evening on the 3rd May when Madeleine went missing.
At the Leicester Magistrates’ Court the judicial communications office decided to turn the summons request down.
A spokesman told Sky News: “After careful consideration, the request to issue a summons against Gerald and Kate McCann for alleged offences contrary to section 1 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 has been refused as it is clear this court does not have the necessary jurisdiction.
“All applications are considered in two stages. The first stage is whether the court has the jurisdiction to issue a summons, the second is if there is sufficient evidence.
As with this application, if the first stage is not passed the second stage is not considered.”
Mr Bennett, of Chippingfield, Harlow, said before the court’s decision: “I’d already got some concerns about the case. I’ve researched it quite thoroughly over the last six to eight weeks.”

Recent reports have suggested that the DVD will be jam-packed with extras.

The fourth movie is likely to follow the same pattern as its predecessors: a group to teenagers trying to escape freak accidents before ultimately kicking the bucket at Death’s request.
The only difference is that the fourth film will be shot in 3D. That’s right, you’ll now see someone get their head chopped off in 3D! Great!

Mary-Kate Olsen was hospitalized yesterday afternoon for kidney infection.
Aparantly Mary-Kate was feeling ill and so she was brought to the hospital in NYC.
Mary-Kate’s rep said that “Mary Kate got a kidney infection. She’s resting comfortably and will be released in the next day or so.”
I have had many kidney infections in the past and quite bad ones at that but I have never had to be hospitalized.

Ritchie Madonna has cancelled Christmas and that she has refused to let her three children celebrate the Christian holiday.
Guy has said that Madonna, who is a follower of the Kabbalah faith, has banned Christmas for her 11-year-old daughter Lourdes, 7-year-old son Rocco and the couple’s 2-year-old adopted son David Banda because she only celebrates Jewish holy days.
Guy said that “We cancelled Christmas two years ago in our household. Once we cancelled it we stopped all the presents, and once we stopped all the presents we started enjoying ourselves more.”

But this is a dwarf compared to giant fossil sea scorpions. In a new research published in the journal Biology Letters, scientists describe the largest sea scorpion found yet, based on a fossil claw.
The 18-in (46-cm) claw probably had an owner with a body 8-ft (2.46-m) long! Sea scorpions are believed to be the aquatic ancestors of modern scorpions and perhaps many arachnid groups (like spiders) and their closest living relatives are horseshoe
crabs.

We're told one dose was given on Sunday morning, another on Sunday evening.
We're told late Sunday night, both babies started to "bleed out." Both babies are now at Cedars in the neo-natal intensive care unit where we're told they are stable.
The twins were born to Quaid and wife Kimberly Buffington November 8 via surrogate.
A rep for Quaid did not immediately return our call for comment and there was no immediate comment from Cedars.

Phelps family homophobe Westboro Baptist Church
Wednesday a $2.9 million verdict against the Phelps family of Topeka and their homophobe Westboro Baptist Church, a Kansas church that picketed the funeral of a Maryland Marine killed in an auto accident in Iraq last year.
It is believed to be the first individual lawsuit against the Phelps, who are infamous for picketing military and other funerals around the country. They do not contend that the dead soldiers are gay, but that their deaths are punishment by an angry God against the United States for its tolerance of homosexuality.
A grieving father, Albert Snyder, sued for unspecified damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder.
Family and church members, under the leadership of Fred Phelps, Sr., routinely picket funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, carrying signs such as “Thank God for dead soldiers” and “God hates fags.”
Their actions have prompted several states to pass laws regarding funeral protests and Congress has passed a law prohibiting such protests at federal cemeteries.

Linda Stein, the punk-music pioneer turned real-estate broker, was found murdered in her Fifth Avenue penthouse on Tuesday. According to the AP, the medical examiner says an autopsy found that she died from fatal blows to the head and neck. Stein was the original “broker to the stars,” helping turn the sale of fancy real estate in the city into the gossipy, publicity-driven soap opera that it has become today, where we all know, or think we know, which boldfaced name lives where, and how much they paid. "Ghost Hunters Live," a 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. vigil at the Waverly Hills Sanitarium in southwestern Jefferson County.
It's the second trip to Waverly Hills for "Ghost Hunters." Investigators will be searching the abandoned halls looking for spirits in the former tuberculosis hospital, which opened in 1926 and closed in 1980. Some 63,000 people reportedly died there.
For decades, Waverly Hills has been a main stopping point for all sorts of people trying to get in touch with the dead. The immense gothic-looking structure housed 500 beds and was once one of the leading TB centers in the country and the sad final destination for many.
"They had what they called a death tunnel with a conveyor system to move the dead bodies down," said Jason Hawes, one of the show's investigators, in a telephone conference call with reporters. His description conjures up images of something in a Stephen King horror novel, but it was really a place where thousands hoped they would be cured.
Hawes and his partner, Grant Wilson, work as plumbers during the day and check out things that go bump in the night after dark.
The twosome don't conduct séances or chant any rituals. They employ a large array of modern technology designed to pick up images and sounds. Both men say they got into searching for the departed after they had personal experiences they won't discuss.
"We're just dying to get back (to Waverly)," Wilson said, with no pun intended. This is dead serious business for both men.
There are two reasons for the return to Waverly. One is that "the place is big enough that we will never run out of rooms to search," said Wilson. The other element that brings them back is what they saw there the last time.
"I caught on thermal imaging what appeared to be a small child running across a hallway," Wilson said.
"It's a great place," agreed Hawes. "It definitely ranks up there with one of the top locations I've investigated." They also saw other things at Waverly worth a second look.
"Jason and I chased some black shadows down a hall and into a room with only one way in and one way out," Wilson said. Members of the team said they had things like screws and bits of plaster thrown at them. Some people will call it hokey.
"We're very aware of that aspect, and we're not going to do anything to make the show more interesting," Wilson said. "We're not going to make up paranormal stuff. The whole goal is to try and figure out what's happening and not necessarily to capture an entity" (a ghost on tape).
When they were at Waverly last year they did try to coax any potential ghostly figures to come out by calling to them.
Some people laugh at such efforts, while others sneer in contempt. "I'm not really concerned with skeptics," Hawes said. "We're not there to appease them. We're there to help the people who call us into their homes because they're worried and scared." He said a skeptic is just someone who hasn't yet confronted a real ghost. Hawes has.
"Yes, I was lucky enough to see one standing right in front of me when Grant and I were on a case together. It was standing in a bedroom, and we were able to walk in and put our arms through it before it disappeared," he said.
The team also debunks a lot of ghost stories. "I'm a firm believer in the paranormal," Hawes said, "but I also believe that more than 80 percent of all claims can be disproved."
The two rose to ghost-hunting fame when The New York Times did an article on a past Halloween that showed them exposing an otherworld tale as just a myth. Hawes said most of the other ghost shows they had seen were "so much garbage." TV producers started calling, and the next thing you know they had their own show on Sci-Fi.
What do they think the chances are of catching or seeing any ghosts tonight? "The odds of seeing something are always slim, so we'll just have to see what happens," Hawes said.
"If we catch something, that's great, but that's not the way it goes. Ghosts don't work on cues, so you're always taking a shot in the dark. It will either be six hours of interesting TV, or we'll have a lot of bored TV viewers," Hawes admitted.

RF Online, originally named 'Rising Force',is a 3D MMORPG developed by CCR.
The first version of the game was released in South Korea and was later followed by Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, and English translations. The North American/European version of the game launched its retail phase on February 21, 2006.
Storyline
The game is centered on the conflict between 3 races (descendants of the now extinct human race) in their bid to control precious resources, and their desire to advance their respective agendas through any means necessary. There are three different races:
* Accretia - A race of cyborgs who were forced to turn to artificial bodies due to the harsh environment on their home planet. Now they have forsaken flesh in their pursuit of perfection and they scorn every flesh being in the universe. Their metallic bodies are the toughest in the game and their technology is the most superior but they have no access to magic. Reestablished as The Empire, Accretia entered the Novus conflict against both Cora and Bellato.
* Bellato - Due to the intense gravity on their home planet, the Bellato are the smallest people. They are a race of inventors that are able to combine creative tools and weapons with the Light form of universal magic. The Bellato enter the war as the least physically capable and yet given their ingenuity they have the potential to become the strongest. Before they became the Bellato Union, however, they were the Bellato Empire, who seized control after the Cora civil war but were beaten by the Accretians. Under such sustained attacks they fell from power, yet they have bided their time until they can become a force to be reckoned with once again.
* Cora - They are an ancient race that scorn technology. Highly spiritual and gifted with natural magical abilities, Corites regard themselves as the highest form of creation. Their magical arts are far more superior to that of which the Bellato practice. Their god is Decem, whom they believed had given Corites their powers as well as their mission to subjugate all other forms of life in his name and to rid the galaxy of technology. The Holy Alliance of Cora was thus born to carry out their crusade.
Basically a mixture of science fiction and classic fantasy, RF Online (or RFO, as many of its players call it) is set in a distant planet in the Novus system where magic exists alongside high technology. Like most MMORPGs it follows the typical fantasy setting complete with swords and sorcery but it also emphasizes the three-way Race vs. Race vs. Race (RvRvR) concept.
Gameplay
As with many MMORPGs, the player will select one race and fight monsters to gain experience points. RFO is populated with many different monsters across many areas.
* HP The most prevalent among games, HP or "Hit/Health Points" represents life. On your character, it is the red bar in the middle.
* FP FP or "Force Points" is the equivalent of Mana or energy in this game. On your character, it is the blue bar below.
* SP SP or "Stamina Points" is used for running and some higher level skills. It can be seen on your character by clicking on the "S" button next to the yellow bar on the top left of the screen along with your level, HP and FP.
* DP "Defense Points". DP dictates the damage you are able to withstand. You lose DP as you get hit. The lower the DP the higher the damage you receive. When DP is completely drained, your defense will be significantly reduced. It is represented by the thin white line above your character, above the larger HP and FP bars. Also known as the Defense Gauge.
* DDP "Dodge Points". Implemented in the Episode 2 patch. With the same effects as Defense Points, you will lose DDP as long as someone is attacking you. When it is drained, your dodge will be significantly reduced. Also known as the Dodge Gauge.
PT (Point)
In the place of the traditional statistics (such as strength, vitality and luck) found in many RPGs, RF has PT (PoinT). PT represents various masteries such as melee or range. Each PT has its own experience bar that is completely autonomous with a character's level. PT levels up as one uses the appropriate actions corresponding to that PT. For example, Defense PT gains in level as one gets hit.
* Melee (Used for increasing melee weapon damage and accuracy. Required to wield higher level melee weapons and to wear close-range armour.)
* Range (Used for increasing ranged weapon damage and accuracy and for increasing stamina. Required to wield higher level bows or guns and to wear ranger armour.)
* Force (unavailable for Accretians) (Used for increasing maximum FP as well as increasing attacking force effectiveness. Required to wield higher level staves and to wear force armour.)
* Shield (Used to increase blocking rate. It increases when your shield blocks an attack. Required to use higher level shields.)
* Defense (Used for increasing maximum HP and DP.)
In addition, the specialists of each race have an additional "Crafting PT", which is divided into three groups:
* Weapon/Shield (Used for crafting higher level weapons and shields.)
* Armor (Used for crafting higher level armors.)
* Ammo (Allows crafting of elemental, giga and advanced ammo. Elemental ammo applies a certain element to the attack, giga is a magazine filled with 500 ammo as opposed to 100 for regular and advanced is more powerful ammo for beam weapons.)
Finally each race has its own special PT which is available only to members of that race:
* Launcher (Accretia) Increases launcher attack power. Required to wield higher level launchers and to wear launcher armour.
* Unit (Bellato) Can be used to upgrade a Massive Armor Unit (MAU). Certain components require a certain level and PT in order to be bought and equipped.
* Summon (Cora) Increases rate of the HP regeneration of the animus in their unsummoned state. It also limits the ability of a summoner to wield animus force reavers that are of very high levels.
The maximum limit PT is based on the character's level and the amount of PT gained per attack from a monster depends on the difference in level between player and mob.
Classes
* Warrior - Warriors have great strength and stamina and specialize in melee combat.
o Upon level 30 Warriors can change into one of two classes, usually a damage dealer or a damage tank.
* Ranger - Rangers rely on speed and dexterity and are skilled in ranged combat.
o Upon level 30 Rangers can change into one of two classes, usually a cloaker equipped with mines or a damage dealing ranger. Accretian rangers can change into the Gunner which specializes in launcher weapons.
* Spiritualist - Spiritualists use magical force to combat their enemies and equip staves. This class is not available to Accretians.
o Upon level 30 Bellato spiritualist can change into one of two classes, a psyper or a healer whereas Cora spiritualists can become a Summoner or a caster.
* Specialist - Specialists have a variety of special abilities depending on race, though all are skilled at crafting and are balanced in all areas.
o Upon level 30 specialists can become crafters whereas Bellato specialist can also choose to become a Driver and pilot huge Massive Attack Units (MAUs). Specialists who choose the Engineer class (Accretia) or Craftman class (Bellato/Cora) at level 30 can set up guard towers.
At level 40 characters can change their job again to one of two available to their current job. Jobs provide additional abilities and have their own weapon preferences. Different jobs are available to different races.
Skills/Force
Skills and Force follows the same level-up strategy as PT in RF in that they must be used in order to level. Furthermore, Skill and Force have their own classes such as Basic, Expert and Elite. Although everybody has access to the same Basic skills/force, it depends on your initial job class and your subsequent level 30 job choice as to which Experts and Elites are available as well as which unique class skills are unlocked.
Race Specific Abilities
Each race has a unique, powerful ability:
* Launcher System: The Accretian launcher is an enormous ranged weapon the size and power of which make it unusable by any other race. Launchers can fire missiles across great distances and are capable of firing many different types of rockets with either physical or elemental damage properties. However, there is a great delay period between shots but this delay can be overcome by using launcher specific armor. Accretians have the additional ability to enter siege mode, increasing fire rate but disallowing motion. Launchers can only be used at levels 15 and above and Siege Kits can only be used at levels 30 and above. There are currently two different Siege Kits: the level 30 kit is good for 1000 shots and increases defence by 20%, the level 40 kit is good for 1500 shots and increases attack power by 35%. After a Siege Kit runs out of durability it is destroyed and the player has to buy a new one.
o Latest upgrade of the siege kit is the Epochal Siege Kit(level 50), A.K.A red siege kit. There are 2 types, the attack kit(1000 shots) and the defense kit(2000 shots).**
* Massive Armor Unit (MAU): Bellato have the ability to pilot MAUs. MAUs are large, heavily armored and well armed robotic bodies. They come in two main varieties: Catapult and Goliath. Catapult MAUs use ranged weaponry while Goliath MAUs use melee weapons. MAUs are very durable, but the pilot cannot use skills or magic while riding them. A player must switch to the Driver class at level 30 to operate a MAU. The player can purchase up to 4 MAUs from the MAU Dealer NPC. These MAUs can be upgraded (by paying a fee) according to the player character's level and UNIT PT, the higher the UNIT PT and level of the player, the more upgrades available to their MAU. The level 40 MAU upgrades change the color of the MAU's armor to black leading to the nickname of Black MAUs or BMAUs. MAUs also costs the most to maintain out of all the equipment. This is due to them not being able to self heal which requires the player to pay a heavy repair fee. A normal MAU can cost around 1.3 million dalant to replace/upgrade and a Black MAU can cost up to 1.5 million dalant.
o Last upgraded of Black MAU is a Red MAU unit.
* Animus: Decem has granted the Cora the ability to summon creatures called animus. Animus appear and can help the Corite who summoned it and its allies by attacking, healing, tanking or stunning opponents. Only a Cora who chooses the Summoner class at level 30 can summon Animus. An Animus has its own HP/FP and exp which are individual from the player's own stats. A player must level each Animus individually. When an Animus is summoned, a window displaying the Animus HP/FP and Exp is displayed. This window also has an order tab which the player can use to make the animus attack or heal whatever the player is targeting. The 4 Animus are Paimon (close range combat and tank), Hecate (force attack and stun), Inanna (healing), Isis (powerful physical attack). When a player is promoted to the Summoner class they receive a free level 25 Animus reaver of Paimon, Inanna or Hecate. These 3 can also be bought from the Force Mentor NPC. Isis can only be obtained from a monster drop or by being promoted to the Graizer class at level 40.

Equipment
There are three types of Equipment in RF, four if you include jewellery. They are :
* Cloak: Latest Addition on RF(Available at Ep.2).cloaks are usually called Jetpacks/Booster since it adds a new item skill which increases your movespeed and drains sp faster for a limited amount of time.Jetpacks are made by Combining 99pcs of Rian, 99pcs of Beam, 1 bag, 1 Olive Excelsiar(A,B,C)which generates the success, 1 talic (chaos, elemental talic)this will be the JetPack's attribute whether it decreases the critical rate done to you or increases your resistance from a certain element + 22million Dallant/Desena/CP.
* Armor: There are three types of armour for each race in RF Online. Close-range armour has the highest defense and its use is tied to melee pt. Ranger armour has the lowest defense but has high elemental resist and increases movement and attack speed. Its use is tied to range pt. Force armour for Cora/Bellato and Launcher armour for Accretia has defense somewhere in the middle and increases the attack power and speed for the race specials (Accretian Launcher armour has the same defense rate as Accretian Range armour).
* Shield: Shield increases a character's overall armour as well as giving a chance to totally block an attack. However, equipping a shield will decrease a character's attack speed and evasion. Shields also takes up a hand which will require the player to use one handed weapons which are considerably weaker than the two handed variety.
* Weapon: Weapons are classed as melee, ranged and force/launcher types and further sub-classed as one-handed, two-handed and dual-wield.
o two variation of Dual wielding; one hit dual-wield(one target) or slashing dual-wield(one or many in the attack area beside the target)
Equipment Attributes
Furthermore, monster dropped equipment may have certain attributes not found on store(as of Ep.1):
in Episode 2; however, these items will be available at certain vendors.
* Type B - Intense: 40% - 50% increase in Attack or Defense Power, depending on the type of weapon/armour. Usually equal in power or defense to the next weapon/armour available. Can be randomly crafted by a level 40 or higher pure class Specialist (e.g. Specialist-Engineer-BattleLeader).
* Type C - SI: A Type C weapon is a weapon that has both the attributes of a type A and B weapon. Its nickname SI comes from the fact that originally only Strong-Intense versions were available. They are created by combining both an intense and a purple version of a specific weapon and a corresponding excelsior (a C grade Black Excelsior makes a level 45 melee weapon for example). When a Type C weapon is created, it has a random chance to lose its up to 4 levels from its level requirement (e.g. level 45 to level 41-45) and a random number of upgrade slots.
* Type D - SI : A Type D Weapon is much similar to a Type C Weapon. The only difference is that Type D Weapons are Lv.50 Type C Weapons(Hora Weapons) that are usable by level 45 players.
* Leon's Weapon: Leon's Weapon are the New weapons at the start of RF eps.2 where great power comes great drawback.Currently the hardest to attain weapon on RF. Due to the fact you must complete the 4 pieces + Blueprint from the Battle Dungeon and Form it through Hero's Combine. Completing the part is one of the hard part. Combining it is a big gamble since you may have the chance of destroying all of the parts in a single combine. Leon parts are non-tradable and non droppable but a complete Leon is Tradable. Leon weapon will have 3 good status like additional attack, defense or avoidance and 1 drawback -resistance, -movespeed, decrease in defense and such.
* Relic Weapons: Relics weapons have been implemented on Episode 2. Like the Leon Weapons, they are extremely rare. Nothing is certainly clear about the relic weapons' attributes, except that 'unsealed' Relics (they are Sealed) have a chance of casting certain Force Spells when used in combat.
Economy
The game's economy can be divided into two parts - production and consumption. Most other MMORPG economies focus on hunting. The mine is a new field where resources are produced as a part of and in support of economic activity. Mining for minerals and processing the products of these produce many kinds of items. These form the basis for conflict within the mines.
Also, just like in the real world, overproduction causes prices to fall. If many players convert their ore into currency, the going price of ore will drop as supply begins to outstrip demand. Every hour, the economy is recomputed taking into account sales of items over the entire server and who currently controls the mines. This system places the economy (mostly) in the hands of the players.
Every twenty-four hours, the amount of currency in the economy is re-calculated, and based on this, a tax rate (inflation rate) is established for each race. The tax rate makes NPC vendor items more expensive. Players can keep the tax rate in check by converting their currency into gold. The cost of gold is based on the tax rate; Higher tax rates mean cheaper gold, while lower tax rates make gold more expensive. In this manner, the tax rate prompts players to convert currency to or from gold based on whether or not the economy suffers from inflation or deflation.
Ore & Ore Processing
From the beginnings there are special material that can not be sold to the NPC, "Rare Ore" this kind of ore is able to be processed into a process ore by ore process NPC, and then the ore can be traded for a box that can be opened in the gem collecting monster NPC, if you opened the box it will come out a random type of mining ore Level +1, +2 or +3, on some occasion +4 level ore. The ore can be processed in the NPC ore process, the breaking of ore can sometimes produce another ore sometimes bonus items like: recovery items, Talics and Gems.
Ore Properties
Processing the processed ore can be processed for the second time in the NPC ore process, the breaking of ore can sometimes produce another ore.
Talics
Talics are upgrade items that are processed from ore that can be obtained from mining in the Crag Mine area. Different talics, when inset into a weapon or armour piece, give different beneficial effects. For example, an Ignorance talic can increase a weapon's attack power or a Favour talic can increase an armours defence ability.
Talics are also found at pit bosses.
Gems
Gems increase the chance of talic upgrading success. They are inserted into the equipment before talics are. They are randomly obtained when refining ore and are dropped by crag mine monsters except for T4 gems, which can only be obtain by processing +4 ores (+4 ores can only be obtain from the Big UMT/Big UMT+ and from gift boxes).
The 4 ranges of gems are commonly referred to as T1 (Tier 1) as Normal Range to T4 (Tier 4) as Greatest Range.
Archon/Patriarchal/Rulership System
A player receives Contribution Points (CP) whenever they kill, or hit a character from another race and also from completing quests. This also means you will lose CP if you are killed by a member of an opposing race. The members of each race with the highest amount of contribution points (top 30) can enter in an election to become the Race Leader for the week or one of the four supporting Archons.
These five Patriarchs as they are collectively known are able to communicate with the entire race through global race chat and are expected to lead the race in the Chip Wars. The Race Leader also has the unique ability to understand the language of other races.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack for RF Online was sung by a Japanese singer Lia.
Free to Play
RF Online recently became free to play. Players can get into the game now by setting up a trial account and receiving a key to activate it. However, once activated the account becomes a full account instead of a trial account.
Optional in-game credits can be purchased with real life currency, the credits are in turn used to buy in-game items.
RF Online in the Philippines
RF Online became the primary option for lots of gamers in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2005 due to Level Up's Ragnarok Online being "saturated" of people, 3rd party programs and its good share of scandals. It has been widely-anticipated and became popular in its release. By 2006 up to early 2007, the game has been very good with the mods and events in-game that encouraged a great deal of players to join. The Episode 2 release in late August of 2007 has been widely discussed and has been labelled as the worst patch so far due to its cons weighing over the pros such as:
1. CCR gave the Free-to-Play (F2P) in Episode 2 bringing in a lot of new gamers, but also lagged the game too much, this may be in lieu to LUG Inc. with players asking for server upgrades to combat the problems in-game or the launch server.
2. One major point of debate is the lessened effectiveness of the resources of the cragmines upon the introduction of Episode II and the raised processing fees which questions the main reason why the game itself existed in the first place (Storyline).
3. CCR also lacked the foresight when the patch was released due to the fact that the Korean RisingForce Online's (kRF) population distribution, culture, trends, etc. are much different than the Philippines' where lots of gamers, especially the veterans or those who spent more than a year in the game, quit in disgust, frustration or disappointment. This is due to the changes in drop, PT rates and still, the bugged crafting success rates that brought down the possibilities of players earning in-game cash.
4. The elemental defense rate has been lowered too much to the point that the race having a greater number of mystic-based classes would usually take the upper hand due to very significant damage increase on their part. And on the other side, the ranger armors that would've been useful to minimize elemental damage seemed to be used only for movement speed purposes.
5. CCR's introduction of the item mall has been viewed like a double-edged sword, and received much more criticism in the Ignorance and Favor Upgrade Boxes, being dubbed as "Gamble Mall" because of it, although lots of players will be looking forward to the next patches since it will finally guarantee 100% a Keen or Favor Upgrader.
6. CCR and Level Up! GMs has been widely criticized and lost trust in a lot of its players who love the game when the "Servers Restart" problem has been very much been part of the game since the 2nd week of September and is still a problem as of this date with at least an average of 1 or 2 restarts in peak hours usually in the afternoon and at times, before or during the 9pm Chip War.
7. In relation to the "Servers Restart" problem, lots of gamers lost valuable amounts of hard-earned experience and some lost precious items because of this, especially when the restarting of servers haven't been being announced in-game, resulting to numerous disgruntled, angry and flaming players in the RF Boards against CCR, Level Up! and its GMs. This has been the cause where GMs would rather chatban or temporarily suspend these players especially those who paid for the "Premium Service" rates who clamor for a mods compensation. The compensation so far is only a mere 500 Galactic Credits (GC)where a lot of gamers have been outraged with all the mess that happened because of this problem. Currently, the administration and its GMs in the forums somehow tried to pacify the avid players saying that they are trying their best and waiting for CCR's patches, although this problem has been going on for already 3 weeks or a month. The said problem HAS BEEN FINALLY solved after arounf 1 and a half months of this being a problem, yet no decent compensation so far has been announced.
8. Another point has been the ever-worsening Level Up! and RF GMs customer care response due to its slow and incompetent response times. One example is that sending evidence for a Real Money Trading (RMT) case, one would usually have a reply that they have not attached proper evidence when it has been very much obvious about the act. Also, it takes at least a week to at most, 6 months before one can have a response from a filed ticket. Also, there are certain accusations from the GMs put some players under charges when it is not probably true like some DDNM and RMT charges.
9. The RMT cases have been rampant in all servers in RF Philippines, adding to the recent problems in the changes in Episode 2 and the servers, GMs would only chatban people for minor offenses rather than look or trace those who are involved more on bug abuses, RMT cases, hacking cases and game infringement cases where there are a number of unknown players who immediately became very much stronger than those who have been known for a long time even when it has been tested by some players from Altrax Server. Due to this incident, the RF Brand Manager has issued a statement about it.
10. Going back to the bugged crafting rates, it has not been fixed since (possibly) the beginning of Episode 2 where a lot of specs from the 3 races have chosen to put their characters into a hiatus, make another character, or completely quit from the game and find another one.
11. Some progress has been made against the infamous DDNM bug widely abused by the Accretian population (or players from other races using Accretian characters). This was done by an Accretian using a Siege Kit and using the sit emoticon which affected to a great degree the outcomes of Chip Wars by far. The punishment for the first offense is a seven day ban with a percentage deduction (50%) on PT and EXP and (20%) on Contribution Points (CP or ConPt). Although, there are questions if it's possible for the other 2 races, namely, Bellato or Cora to do such a bug.

As of October 30, due to the intense bug abuse caused by DDNM and other such factors mentioned above, there has been a statement released by the Nexus Accretia archon Restless, which became a hot subject amongst the players and the pro-LUG camp. The first version of the game was released in South Korea and was later followed by Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, and English translations. The North American/European version of the game launched its retail phase on February 21, 2006.
Storyline
The game is centered on the conflict between 3 races (descendants of the now extinct human race) in their bid to control precious resources, and their desire to advance their respective agendas through any means necessary. There are three different races:
* Accretia - A race of cyborgs who were forced to turn to artificial bodies due to the harsh environment on their home planet. Now they have forsaken flesh in their pursuit of perfection and they scorn every flesh being in the universe. Their metallic bodies are the toughest in the game and their technology is the most superior but they have no access to magic. Reestablished as The Empire, Accretia entered the Novus conflict against both Cora and Bellato.
* Bellato - Due to the intense gravity on their home planet, the Bellato are the smallest people. They are a race of inventors that are able to combine creative tools and weapons with the Light form of universal magic. The Bellato enter the war as the least physically capable and yet given their ingenuity they have the potential to become the strongest. Before they became the Bellato Union, however, they were the Bellato Empire, who seized control after the Cora civil war but were beaten by the Accretians. Under such sustained attacks they fell from power, yet they have bided their time until they can become a force to be reckoned with once again.
* Cora - They are an ancient race that scorn technology. Highly spiritual and gifted with natural magical abilities, Corites regard themselves as the highest form of creation. Their magical arts are far more superior to that of which the Bellato practice. Their god is Decem, whom they believed had given Corites their powers as well as their mission to subjugate all other forms of life in his name and to rid the galaxy of technology. The Holy Alliance of Cora was thus born to carry out their crusade.
Basically a mixture of science fiction and classic fantasy, RF Online (or RFO, as many of its players call it) is set in a distant planet in the Novus system where magic exists alongside high technology. Like most MMORPGs it follows the typical fantasy setting complete with swords and sorcery but it also emphasizes the three-way Race vs. Race vs. Race (RvRvR) concept.
Gameplay
As with many MMORPGs, the player will select one race and fight monsters to gain experience points. RFO is populated with many different monsters across many areas.
* HP The most prevalent among games, HP or "Hit/Health Points" represents life. On your character, it is the red bar in the middle.
* FP FP or "Force Points" is the equivalent of Mana or energy in this game. On your character, it is the blue bar below.
* SP SP or "Stamina Points" is used for running and some higher level skills. It can be seen on your character by clicking on the "S" button next to the yellow bar on the top left of the screen along with your level, HP and FP.
* DP "Defense Points". DP dictates the damage you are able to withstand. You lose DP as you get hit. The lower the DP the higher the damage you receive. When DP is completely drained, your defense will be significantly reduced. It is represented by the thin white line above your character, above the larger HP and FP bars. Also known as the Defense Gauge.
* DDP "Dodge Points". Implemented in the Episode 2 patch. With the same effects as Defense Points, you will lose DDP as long as someone is attacking you. When it is drained, your dodge will be significantly reduced. Also known as the Dodge Gauge.
PT (Point)
In the place of the traditional statistics (such as strength, vitality and luck) found in many RPGs, RF has PT (PoinT). PT represents various masteries such as melee or range. Each PT has its own experience bar that is completely autonomous with a character's level. PT levels up as one uses the appropriate actions corresponding to that PT. For example, Defense PT gains in level as one gets hit.
* Melee (Used for increasing melee weapon damage and accuracy. Required to wield higher level melee weapons and to wear close-range armour.)

When an Animus is summoned, a window displaying the Animus HP/FP and Exp is displayed. This window also has an order tab which the player can use to make the animus attack or heal whatever the player is targeting. The 4 Animus are Paimon (close range combat and tank), Hecate (force attack and stun), Inanna (healing), Isis (powerful physical attack). When a player is promoted to the Summoner class they receive a free level 25 Animus reaver of Paimon, Inanna or Hecate. These 3 can also be bought from the Force Mentor NPC. Isis can only be obtained from a monster drop or by being promoted to the Graizer class at level 40.

Equipment
There are three types of Equipment in RF, four if you include jewellery. They are :
* Cloak: Latest Addition on RF(Available at Ep.2).cloaks are usually called Jetpacks/Booster since it adds a new item skill which increases your movespeed and drains sp faster for a limited amount of time.Jetpacks are made by Combining 99pcs of Rian, 99pcs of Beam, 1 bag, 1 Olive Excelsiar(A,B,C)which generates the success, 1 talic (chaos, elemental talic)this will be the JetPack's attribute whether it decreases the critical rate done to you or increases your resistance from a certain element + 22million Dallant/Desena/CP.
* Armor: There are three types of armour for each race in RF Online. Close-range armour has the highest defense and its use is tied to melee pt. Ranger armour has the lowest defense but has high elemental resist and increases movement and attack speed. Its use is tied to range pt. Force armour for Cora/Bellato and Launcher armour for Accretia has defense somewhere in the middle and increases the attack power and speed for the race specials (Accretian Launcher armour has the same defense rate as Accretian Range armour).
* Shield: Shield increases a character's overall armour as well as giving a chance to totally block an attack. However, equipping a shield will decrease a character's attack speed and evasion. Shields also takes up a hand which will require the player to use one handed weapons which are considerably weaker than the two handed variety.
* Weapon: Weapons are classed as melee, ranged and force/launcher types and further sub-classed as one-handed, two-handed and dual-wield.
o two variation of Dual wielding; one hit dual-wield(one target) or slashing dual-wield(one or many in the attack area beside the target)
Equipment Attributes
Furthermore, monster dropped equipment may have certain attributes not found on store(as of Ep.1):
in Episode 2; however, these items will be available at certain vendors.
* Type B - Intense: 40% - 50% increase in Attack or Defense Power, depending on the type of weapon/armour. Usually equal in power or defense to the next weapon/armour available. Can be randomly crafted by a level 40 or higher pure class Specialist (e.g. Specialist-Engineer-BattleLeader).
* Type C - SI: A Type C weapon is a weapon that has both the attributes of a type A and B weapon. Its nickname SI comes from the fact that originally only Strong-Intense versions were available. They are created by combining both an intense and a purple version of a specific weapon and a corresponding excelsior (a C grade Black Excelsior makes a level 45 melee weapon for example). When a Type C weapon is created, it has a random chance to lose its up to 4 levels from its level requirement (e.g. level 45 to level 41-45) and a random number of upgrade slots.
* Type D - SI : A Type D Weapon is much similar to a Type C Weapon. The only difference is that Type D Weapons are Lv.50 Type C Weapons(Hora Weapons) that are usable by level 45 players.
* Leon's Weapon: Leon's Weapon are the New weapons at the start of RF eps.2 where great power comes great drawback.Currently the hardest to attain weapon on RF. Due to the fact you must complete the 4 pieces + Blueprint from the Battle Dungeon and Form it through Hero's Combine. Completing the part is one of the hard part. Combining it is a big gamble since you may have the chance of destroying all of the parts in a single combine. Leon parts are non-tradable and non droppable but a complete Leon is Tradable. Leon weapon will have 3 good status like additional attack, defense or avoidance and 1 drawback -resistance, -movespeed, decrease in defense and such.
* Relic Weapons: Relics weapons have been implemented on Episode 2. Like the Leon Weapons, they are extremely rare. Nothing is certainly clear about the relic weapons' attributes, except that 'unsealed' Relics (they are Sealed) have a chance of casting certain Force Spells when used in combat.
Economy
The game's economy can be divided into two parts - production and consumption. Most other MMORPG economies focus on hunting. The mine is a new field where resources are produced as a part of and in support of economic activity. Mining for minerals and processing the products of these produce many kinds of items. These form the basis for conflict within the mines.
Also, just like in the real world, overproduction causes prices to fall. If many players convert their ore into currency, the going price of ore will drop as supply begins to outstrip demand. Every hour, the economy is recomputed taking into account sales of items over the entire server and who currently controls the mines. This system places the economy (mostly) in the hands of the players.
Every twenty-four hours, the amount of currency in the economy is re-calculated, and based on this, a tax rate (inflation rate) is established for each race. The tax rate makes NPC vendor items more expensive. Players can keep the tax rate in check by converting their currency into gold. The cost of gold is based on the tax rate; Higher tax rates mean cheaper gold, while lower tax rates make gold more expensive. In this manner, the tax rate prompts players to convert currency to or from gold based on whether or not the economy suffers from inflation or deflation.
Ore & Ore Processing
From the beginnings there are special material that can not be sold to the NPC, "Rare Ore" this kind of ore is able to be processed into a process ore by ore process NPC, and then the ore can be traded for a box that can be opened in the gem collecting monster NPC, if you opened the box it will come out a random type of mining ore Level +1, +2 or +3, on some occasion +4 level ore. The ore can be processed in the NPC ore process, the breaking of ore can sometimes produce another ore sometimes bonus items like: recovery items, Talics and Gems.
Ore Properties
Processing the processed ore can be processed for the second time in the NPC ore process, the breaking of ore can sometimes produce another ore.
Talics
Talics are upgrade items that are processed from ore that can be obtained from mining in the Crag Mine area. Different talics, when inset into a weapon or armour piece, give different beneficial effects. For example, an Ignorance talic can increase a weapon's attack power or a Favour talic can increase an armours defence ability.
Talics are also found at pit bosses.
Gems
Gems increase the chance of talic upgrading success. They are inserted into the equipment before talics are. They are randomly obtained when refining ore and are dropped by crag mine monsters except for T4 gems, which can only be obtain by processing +4 ores (+4 ores can only be obtain from the Big UMT/Big UMT+ and from gift boxes).
The 4 ranges of gems are commonly referred to as T1 (Tier 1) as Normal Range to T4 (Tier 4) as Greatest Range.
Archon/Patriarchal/Rulership System
A player receives Contribution Points (CP) whenever they kill, or hit a character from another race and also from completing quests. This also means you will lose CP if you are killed by a member of an opposing race. The members of each race with the highest amount of contribution points (top 30) can enter in an election to become the Race Leader for the week or one of the four supporting Archons.
These five Patriarchs as they are collectively known are able to communicate with the entire race through global race chat and are expected to lead the race in the Chip Wars. The Race Leader also has the unique ability to understand the language of other races.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack for RF Online was sung by a Japanese singer Lia.
Free to Play
RF Online recently became free to play. Players can get into the game now by setting up a trial account and receiving a key to activate it. However, once activated the account becomes a full account instead of a trial account.
Optional in-game credits can be purchased with real life currency, the credits are in turn used to buy in-game items.
RF Online in the Philippines
RF Online became the primary option for lots of gamers in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2005 due to Level Up's Ragnarok Online being "saturated" of people, 3rd party programs and its good share of scandals. It has been widely-anticipated and became popular in its release. By 2006 up to early 2007, the game has been very good with the mods and events in-game that encouraged a great deal of players to join. The Episode 2 release in late August of 2007 has been widely discussed and has been labelled as the worst patch so far due to its cons weighing over the pros such as:
1. CCR gave the Free-to-Play (F2P) in Episode 2 bringing in a lot of new gamers, but also lagged the game too much, this may be in lieu to LUG Inc. with players asking for server upgrades to combat the problems in-game or the launch server.
2. One major point of debate is the lessened effectiveness of the resources of the cragmines upon the introduction of Episode II and the raised processing fees which questions the main reason why the game itself existed in the first place (Storyline).
3. CCR also lacked the foresight when the patch was released due to the fact that the Korean RisingForce Online's (kRF) population distribution, culture, trends, etc. are much different than the Philippines' where lots of gamers, especially the veterans or those who spent more than a year in the game, quit in disgust, frustration or disappointment. This is due to the changes in drop, PT rates and still, the bugged crafting success rates that brought down the possibilities of players earning in-game cash.
4. The elemental defense rate has been lowered too much to the point that the race having a greater number of mystic-based classes would usually take the upper hand due to very significant damage increase on their part. And on the other side, the ranger armors that would've been useful to minimize elemental damage seemed to be used only for movement speed purposes.
5. CCR's introduction of the item mall has been viewed like a double-edged sword, and received much more criticism in the Ignorance and Favor Upgrade Boxes, being dubbed as "Gamble Mall" because of it, although lots of players will be looking forward to the next patches since it will finally guarantee 100% a Keen or Favor Upgrader.
6. CCR and Level Up! GMs has been widely criticized and lost trust in a lot of its players who love the game when the "Servers Restart" problem has been very much been part of the game since the 2nd week of September and is still a problem as of this date with at least an average of 1 or 2 restarts in peak hours usually in the afternoon and at times, before or during the 9pm Chip War.
7. In relation to the "Servers Restart" problem, lots of gamers lost valuable amounts of hard-earned experience and some lost precious items because of this, especially when the restarting of servers haven't been being announced in-game, resulting to numerous disgruntled, angry and flaming players in the RF Boards against CCR, Level Up! and its GMs. This has been the cause where GMs would rather chatban or temporarily suspend these players especially those who paid for the "Premium Service" rates who clamor for a mods compensation. The compensation so far is only a mere 500 Galactic Credits (GC)where a lot of gamers have been outraged with all the mess that happened because of this problem. Currently, the administration and its GMs in the forums somehow tried to pacify the avid players saying that they are trying their best and waiting for CCR's patches, although this problem has been going on for already 3 weeks or a month. The said problem HAS BEEN FINALLY solved after arounf 1 and a half months of this being a problem, yet no decent compensation so far has been announced.
8. Another point has been the ever-worsening Level Up! and RF GMs customer care response due to its slow and incompetent response times. One example is that sending evidence for a Real Money Trading (RMT) case, one would usually have a reply that they have not attached proper evidence when it has been very much obvious about the act. Also, it takes at least a week to at most, 6 months before one can have a response from a filed ticket. Also, there are certain accusations from the GMs put some players under charges when it is not probably true like some DDNM and RMT charges.
9. The RMT cases have been rampant in all servers in RF Philippines, adding to the recent problems in the changes in Episode 2 and the servers, GMs would only chatban people for minor offenses rather than look or trace those who are involved more on bug abuses, RMT cases, hacking cases and game infringement cases where there are a number of unknown players who immediately became very much stronger than those who have been known for a long time even when it has been tested by some players from Altrax Server. Due to this incident, the RF Brand Manager has issued a statement about it.
10. Going back to the bugged crafting rates, it has not been fixed since (possibly) the beginning of Episode 2 where a lot of specs from the 3 races have chosen to put their characters into a hiatus, make another character, or completely quit from the game and find another one.
11. Some progress has been made against the infamous DDNM bug widely abused by the Accretian population (or players from other races using Accretian characters). This was done by an Accretian using a Siege Kit and using the sit emoticon which affected to a great degree the outcomes of Chip Wars by far. The punishment for the first offense is a seven day ban with a percentage deduction (50%) on PT and EXP and (20%) on Contribution Points (CP or ConPt). Although, there are questions if it's possible for the other 2 races, namely, Bellato or Cora to do such a bug.
12. As of October 30, due to the intense bug abuse caused by DDNM and other such factors mentioned above, there has been a statement released by the Nexus Accretia archon Restless, which became a hot subject amongst the players and the pro-LUG camp. RF Online Taking out a MAU Massive Armor Unit
Being an Ex Driver i know how to take down a mau. First of all don't think of defeating a mau, all you need to do is pester it and the driver will either run away or get out. Also, if you're under lvl 30 don't even think about taking on a mau, you're just going to waste pots. If you see one, just run. Now if you're a level 30+ then you can start taking on maus. First thing you will need is enough potions. You should always be carrying some anyway for leveling. You will need to look at the mau and determine if it is a melee or ranged mau and how much Mau PT the Driver has. On melee maus, you can tell if the driver has less that 15 pt if he/she doesn't have boosters and is still using fists. On ranged, if the driver has less than 15 mau, he/she will have vulcans as weapons. For 15-30 PT a melee mau will have a booster and a ranged mau will have flamethrowers. for 30-45 PT A melee mau will have sword-fists and a ranged mau will have rocket launchers. at 45+ melee maus will have a net launcher on its shoulders and a ranged mau will have a debuffing rocket launcher on it's shoulders.
Maus under 45 PT you can solo. The trick is not to kill it but to make it go away or annoy the driver to come out. The key thing with maus is that it takes TONS of money to repair, about 500k Dalant for full repairs. So most lvl 30's can do dmg in the 200's - 500's. This is enough damage to make a mau run away once it realizes it can't take you down because you keep on potting. If you're a ranged user, just kite (run and gun). Melee maus over 45 PT are annoying because they can net you down and you can't run. Also, force users do the best damage to maus.
Now if there is a group of maus you have to look for one thing, if one or more of the maus can net you. If theres a netter, run because if he/she nets you and they all attack you at the same time, you won't survive.
Now the best way to destroy/blow up a mau is to gang it. When a mau loses all its hp, it will explode and the driver will need to buy a new one. (one million credits.) The most effective way to take down one mau is to have one tank hit it and let the ranged users shoot from afar. Force users will do the most damage.
I'll write a faq later on taking on groups of maus, but thats pretty tough. Remember, the key to defeating maus is potting and doing damage till it gets fed up and runs away (if you're soloing). You can then chase after it until the driver gets out so you can kill him/her or just let it go.
Continuation - Fighting back against a group of MAUs:
Well honestly, defeating a group of MAUs is very tough. If you're soloing and near some guard towers, run toward them. Theres no way you can solo a group of maus. The most effective tactics I've seen used against me were mobbing and mobbing with force users. You will need a good organized party of people lvl 30 and above (Preferably mostly force users), and plenty of pots. The key to defeating the group of MAUs is to scatter them. When MAUs attack one target together, it's a sure kill. So you have to seperate them. The best way to do this is to attack different maus to lure them away from eachother and toward an ambush party or something. This is probably too organized to be used regularly. A more practical thing to do is to gang catapults first. Since they can't run, they're easy targets for range and force users. Once the catapults have run away or the pilots have bailed, focus on the goliaths. These are more dangerous since they can keep up with their boosters. The party is going to have to target one MAU and keep hitting it so it has no choice but to leave. Keep doing this till they get fed up. As long as you keep the MAU group unorganized and confused. They won't get very far. Remember, you probably won't be able to blow up the mau, but getting the driver to bail is the next best thing. Concentrate your fire on one mau at a time.
Edit:After playing NA/UK beta, I have to really stress that if you're being chased by more than 2 melee mau, run. I'm a level 35 Accretian gunner with good gear and race leader status. This means that I get a 20% defense bonus + I have intense level 35 armor + a 25% defense bonus from being race leader. Even with all this, when I was netted and hit by 3 melee mau, my hp was brought down to around 100. Two of these mau had around 40 unit pt and the other one was pretty low. Considering all of this, if you see more than 2 melee mau chasing you, don't bother trying to confront them. If they all target you, you're dead.

RF Online Cora PT Training Guide
Consider your class, what PT do you need to train to be effective in combat? Discover which are your "main" combat skills and your "secondary" combat skills. A warrior's main combat skill, for example, is Melee, Defense, and arguably shield (depending on the style of play), while Ranged and Force are secondary.
What each PT category does
All combat PT effects the accuracy of your attack. For example a player with 37 ranged PT can hit a lvl 50 mob with a lvl 30 weapon quite succesfully while a player with 20 PT will miss almost all of the time on a lvl 50 mob. (Tested and confirmed.)
* Melee: Increased SP and attack damage with melee weapons. Recommended for: Warriors, Rangers, Specialist
* Ranged: Increased SP and attack damage with ranged weapons. An unconfirmed theory is that Ranged also increases evasion. Recommended for: Warriors, Ranger, Specialist, Spiritualist
* Force: Increased FP and attack damage with force spells. Recommended for: All Classes
* Defense: Increased HP as well as resistance to attacks. Recommended for: All Classes.
* Shield: Increased chance to successfully block an attack while equipped with a shield. Recommended for: Warrior, Ranger, Specialist,
* Summon: (Cora Summoners only) Allows you to control higher level summons. Also increases Inanna heals and summons damage (Tested and Confirmed).
Remember: The above recommendations are recommendations only, don't ever let your PTs fall too low or you will be "Gimped"! But if you don't care, you will just be missing out on certain aspects of the game.

How should I train?
PT is gained by doing damage equal to or greater than a fixed % (unknown to the author at this time) of the health of the monster you are attacking. To maximize the amount of PT you gain, (and minimize the amount of experience you gain, so you can PT longer without leveling), the goal is to do the least amount of damage possible to a monster while still receiving PT.
The wrong way to PT:
* Bust out your strongest weapon and kill a monster in seconds.
The right way to PT:
* Whip out a dinky weapon and bring lots of health potions.
Super PT Hero/Heroine Style
To keep the best PTs around (maximum combat efficiency for your level) your "main" combat skills should be as high as possible, and your secondary combat skills can be a couple levels lower than the maximum. Some argue to "max out" (fill each combat PT) every level: this is a waste of time. An effective strategy is to work on your PTs every few levels, distributing your time evenly between gaining experience levels and honing your PT, since a lot of combat effectiveness is first determined by gear, and then by PT levels.
After level 30, each level will increase your main combat PT maximum by 3-4 levels. Imagine spending all that time every level to fill up your PT bars just to gain the next level of experience and have MORE PT to train all over again! Headache and agony!
After level 30, PTs rise quickly since monsters will be giving you 80, 100, PT per hit.
Average PT Style
Some recommend only training addition combat PT just enough for the next level of equipment, and then go level up some more, only gaining PT as you do missions or while leveling. This is passable, but not the way to be the most powerful player you were meant to be.
Gimped PT
Sooner or later you will hear the term "gimped". This basically means that your combat skill in a certain area is so low that you can no longer gain PT with that skill. For example you are a ranger and you never trained your melee skill and now you're level 30.. and you can't hit a darn thing with a sword or equip cool melee armor. And even if you do damage, you gain no PT. Uh oh.. sounds like bad news right?
How to fix "gimped" PT
Ok not everything is lost. There are a few things you can do:
* Buy an intense weapon that you can use for the category of skill that needs help,
* Buy "advanced ammunition" or "elemental ammunition" from specialists if you are trying to boost Ranged combat PT (this will increase the amount of damage you do, allowing you to receive PT credit)
* Use Adrenaline potions (These increase your attack power by 10%)
Now you must go locate and fight 1-dot monsters, since they are the weakest, will have the lowest health, and the best chance of rewarding you with PT. These are two levels below you generally. Grayed-out monsters will not reward you with PT.
Force Users(Casters)
Force PT: (Required) This is your main PT and the one you excel in. On top of your PT you have force tier pt as well. You can see your force pt by hitting F or ctrl + F. You want to try and level all 4 elemental offensive spells at the same time. so try to level up those darkness buffs of yours + 2 of your offensive spells
Ranged PT: (Recommended) Ranged PT increases stamina. You'll need stamina for your class specific buff and not to mention it helps on those long runs.
TIP: Dark Force PT can be a pain to get to 30. A nice tip is to switch the Sacrifice force
reaver to a level 1 each time the reaver reaches level 3. You also want to use both Dark
Force buffs as much as possibe as soon as possible.

How should I train?
PT is gained by doing damage equal to or greater than a fixed % (unknown to the author at this time) of the health of the monster you are attacking. To maximize the amount of PT you gain, (and minimize the amount of experience you gain, so you can PT longer without leveling), the goal is to do the least amount of damage possible to a monster while still receiving PT.
The wrong way to PT:
* Bust out your strongest weapon and kill a monster in seconds.
The right way to PT:
* Whip out a dinky weapon and bring lots of health potions.
Super PT Hero/Heroine Style
To keep the best PTs around (maximum combat efficiency for your level) your "main" combat skills should be as high as possible, and your secondary combat skills can be a couple levels lower than the maximum. Some argue to "max out" (fill each combat PT) every level: this is a waste of time. An effective strategy is to work on your PTs every few levels, distributing your time evenly between gaining experience levels and honing your PT, since a lot of combat effectiveness is first determined by gear, and then by PT levels.
After level 30, each level will increase your main combat PT maximum by 3-4 levels. Imagine spending all that time every level to fill up your PT bars just to gain the next level of experience and have MORE PT to train all over again! Headache and agony!
After level 30, PTs rise quickly since monsters will be giving you 80, 100, PT per hit.
Average PT Style
Some recommend only training addition combat PT just enough for the next level of equipment, and then go level up some more, only gaining PT as you do missions or while leveling. This is passable, but not the way to be the most powerful player you were meant to be.
Gimped PT
Sooner or later you will hear the term "gimped". This basically means that your combat skill in a certain area is so low that you can no longer gain PT with that skill. For example you are a ranger and you never trained your melee skill and now you're level 30.. and you can't hit a darn thing with a sword or equip cool melee armor. And even if you do damage, you gain no PT. Uh oh.. sounds like bad news right?
How to fix "gimped" PT
Ok not everything is lost. There are a few things you can do:
* Buy an intense weapon that you can use for the category of skill that needs help,
* Buy "advanced ammunition" or "elemental ammunition" from specialists if you are trying to boost Ranged combat PT (this will increase the amount of damage you do, allowing you to receive PT credit)
* Use Adrenaline potions (These increase your attack power by 10%)
Now you must go locate and fight 1-dot monsters, since they are the weakest, will have the lowest health, and the best chance of rewarding you with PT. These are two levels below you generally. Grayed-out monsters will not reward you with PT.
Force Users(Casters)
Force PT: (Required) This is your main PT and the one you excel in. On top of your PT you have force tier pt as well. You can see your force pt by hitting F or ctrl + F. You want to try and level all 4 elemental offensive spells at the same time. so try to level up those darkness buffs of yours + 2 of your offensive spells
Ranged PT: (Recommended) Ranged PT increases stamina. You'll need stamina for your class specific buff and not to mention it helps on those long runs.
TIP: Dark Force PT can be a pain to get to 30. A nice tip is to switch the Sacrifice force
reaver to a level 1 each time the reaver reaches level 3. You also want to use both Dark
Force buffs as much as possibe as soon as possible.

1) Why did that Toaster/Midget/Elf kill me?
This is a PvP game. Or more accurately, RvRvR. Also known as Realm vs. Realm vs. Realm. This means whatever race you pick, you are now in constant war with the other two races. You’re going to die...plenty of times. If the statement of PvP or RvRvR confuses you, think of RFO like this. It’s Counter-Strike for RPG’rs. Pick a side and try to kill everyone else that isn’t on your side.
2) Why does all the armor look the same?
Think of it as a military uniform. You don’t want to be flashy, conformity is the thing here, everyone should look the same in a time of war. Besides, you really don’t want to stick out in a crowd, it only means you’ll die faster.
3) What does XX mean?
Acc’s(Accs) - Accretians
Bel’s(Bels) - Bellatos
Cor’s(Cors) – Corites or Coras
HSK – Holy Stone Keeper, that’s the big monster in the Central Mine
AFK Mining – Setting your Toon up to mine while you’re Away From the Keyboard
Toasters/Tin Heads – Slang for Accretians
Midgets/Hobbits – Slang for Bellato
Porn Elves/""how come they get an auto healer" elves" - Slang for Cora
MAU – Massive Assault Unit or Mechanized Armor Unit, depending on who you ask. Either way, it is the term for the giant Robot/Gundams that the Bellato can pilot. ONLY the Bellato can pilot them. So, don’t join the Cora or the Accretia and expect to pilot one. If this is why you wanted to play RFO, then your choice is singular. You HAVE to be Bellato and you HAVE to choose the Specialist Job Class.
Skill Points – This is the number ratio you see next to your abilities when you hit the “C” Key. It shows your proficiency in that particular skill. The higher the number, the better you are and the better the tool you can use. There are limits, and they are set by your Character Level. If you have access to an item linked to a skill, you can level it, regardless of your class. If you don’t have access to a linked item, obviously, you can’t level it.
CW – Chip War, this is the forced PvP state used in the game. Winner gets control of the Central Mine.
acc – During CW, this abbreviation is used to mean Accretia Control Chip
bcc – During CW, this abbreviation is used to mean Bellato Control Chip
ccc – During CW, this abbreviation is used to mean Cora Control Chip
Control Chip – There are towers outside of every race’s Mine Field portal that holds a Control Chip. During CW it is our job to go destroy an enemy Tower and get the Control Chip. This allows that race to gain control of the Central Mine and be Guarded by the HSK.
RL – Race Leader, we’ll cover that later.
Pots – Potions, these are your best friend, and the only means of instant recovery in RFO.
Int - Intense, referring to Armor or Weapons
Spec - Specialist Class
War - Warrior Class
Spir/Spiri - Spiritualist Class
KS - Kill Steal
4) Did we win the CW? Or Do we have control of the mine?
Odds are, you JUST logged into the game. If you open your chat box and scroll all the way to the top it will say something like, “The Holy Stone Keeper has appeared and is Hostile/Friendly with our race.” There’s your answer. If it says Hostile, your side lost the last CW; if it says Friendly, your race won the last CW. If there is no such notice, one of two things is happening. Either the CW is currently going on or will start in less than an hour. Meaning NO-ONE has control of the mine.
5) When is the next CW?
PST.......CST......EST......GMT......CET
11:00....13:00....14:00....19:00....20:00
19:00....21:00....22:00....03:00....04:00
03:00....05:00....06:00....11:00....12:00
There is a One Hour Window before the CW that the mine is free of control. Meaning, if the CW starts at 0800, at 0700 the HSK will go crazy and kill everyone at the Central Mine then disappear. It’s now a free-for-all. Go kill and be happy.
6) Why can’t I do more damage even after I leveled?
Two things. One, RFO is VERY dependant on your equipment. Make sure you are using the most up to date equipment or your damage/armor will stagnate and you’ll get your butt kicked in no time regardless of your level. Two, level your Skills/Force.
7) What is Skill/Force?
These are your abilities. “L” Key for Skills and “F” Key for Force. The more you use these things the higher their level will become. Which means they’ll recharge faster for Skills and do more Damage for Force.
8) When can I unlock the next tier of Skills/Force?
You’ll need to be at least level 28 and have a total of 30 Skill Points in that discipline over an unknown number of Skills. I’ve heard/read it be one skill, sometimes two. If someone can finally clarify this, that’d be great, if not, I guess we’ll find out when we get there. Moral of the story. All the low level skills will be your best friend for a LONG time.
9) Should I worry about PT or Character Level?
Depends on how you want to play. Some people burst through about 10 levels then go back and worry about leveling their skills. Some people level their PT’s and Character Level simultaneously. Do it however you want, but please note, if you try to party after a long drought of not working on your PT, most people will be very displeased with your fighting ability. However, excluding partying, there’s no real difference how you do it. Either way, when you’re done your PT should be good for your level.
10) I’m level 10, but my Prism Beam is still level One! I’m gimped!
No, you’re not, that’s just how it is. Skill/Force levels are entirely separate then your character level. You’re fine, calm down, go have a smoke, whatever. You’re not gimped.
11) Why does that guy/gal have a big tower of light over them?
Those people are called Race Leaders(RL’s). They are the top 5 PvP ranked players. Technicaly, the top 2 through 5 are called Archons and the number One Player is the Race Leader, but I'm YET to hear anyone address an Archon as an Archon and not a RL. They are also the one’s that can talk over Race Chat. Also known as that bright blue text that pops up in chat. They also have the power to start the voting. So, if you get this pop-up window in the middle of a fight asking a stupid question, blame it on your RL.
12) How do I resize my chat box?
Hit the “Enter” Key or click on the little talking heads in the bottom left. The Chat Box will open up. When it does, there is a pair of Up/Down arrows just bellow the “X” Button. That allows you to stretch the chat box Up and Down. Once you leave Chat mode, the Box shrinks back down and you get the crappy view once again. That’s all we get, nothing else, they haven’t changed anything yet.
13) How do I get into keyboard mode?
Hit the “H” Key.
14) How do I jump?
Hit the “V” Key while in keyboard mode.
15) How do I take a Screen Shot?
Above the “Insert” Key on your keyboard, there is a button that says “Print Screen.” Hit that and it’ll take a screenshot. Screenshot in Mouse mode is Alt + 0(Zero, not on keypad). You’ll know it works when your screen pauses for a second then a line pops up in your Chat Box that says “Screenshot saved.” The Screenies are saved in the “Screenshot” Sub-Folder in your Game’s Folder. Another useful thing is Alt + "H" Key, which willr emove your HUD so you can take better pictures.
16) How do I cycle targets?
With the mouse button. We all have to pick out our targets by point-click interface.
17) How do I remap the keys?
You cannot do so at this moment in time.
18) Do I have to use the Function keys to use the skill bar?
No. Hit the “\” key and you can use the 1-0 keys instead. This and the Keyboard control mode has to be done EVERY time you log back in, as it isn’t a saved mode of play according to the game.
19) Where is the Auction House?

20) I want to start a guild.

Wootness. Only specialists can craft. You’ll need bounty items and sometimes/at later levels processed ore items. Talk to a Sundries Dealer and they can sell you the different types of crafting tools.

Presently, Spec. can't craft good items. As in Int. and Spec weapons. But there might be hope for final Giga and the chance of making those kinds of items.
25) How do I teleport?
You have to buy specific cards from Sundries Dealers to be able to teleport in the field. And the Teleport Card to the Central Mining area currently does not work(currently as in March 5, 2006). Yes, I heard it worked during beta. Don’t ask me why it doesn’t work now. I’m sure it has been reported as a bug already, but if you want, go ahead and report it again, maybe it will be fixed during the next patch.
26) I can’t get my Force/Mellee/Range/Whatever Skill up?!
There are level caps to the Skill Points you can earn under the Character Stats Window. This will go up as your Character Level goes up. From what I understand, for Specialists, its some strange percentage with the Force Skill. I understand this to be normal and will resume climbing when you level, don’t panic. If you still think something is wrong with it, just relog, I hear that fixes a lot of problems.
27) What’s that blue bar next to my character status in the top left corner of the screen?
That is your Defence Gauge. If it’s Blue, your Defence ability and Dodge ability are at max and you will take less damage. If it’s Orange, you’ve taken damage and your Defence Rating is going down. If it’s Red, you’re screwed. Your Defence Rating is very low and you will take increased damage, be less likely to dodge, and critical strike chances are higher against you.
28) Raising Shield rating is hard.
Yes, it sucks. Most people will equip their shield and target a bunch of lowlevel mobs and let them beat the crap outta you to raise it. I hear this is effective, though you may run into some problems with other players if you take too many mobs from an area to raise your shield. So please be considerate and try not to take the WHOLE group of mobs.
29) That dude stole my kill!
Experience is granted according to how much damage you do to a target. If you did 75% of the damage and some tard comes up and smacks the thing, calm down. Either it was an accident given how hard targeting is in this game or two, they really are a tard. Either way, you still get XP for the work you did.
30) What should a lvl XX hunt?
Hitting the “J” Key brings up your quest logs. The main window is the top left button. It shows you the current quests you have been assigned. The top right button is a complete list of all available quests. Grey quests mean the mobs involved will give you very little xp. Green quests have mobs you should be fighting to lvl. The last window mentioned also tells you what level the quest is. Good bit of advice, if you are stocked up on pots, you can usually do quests 2-4 levels higher then your current character level. If the quest is yellow, it’ll be rather hard, maybe impossible depending on your current skill levels and equipment. It its red, don’t bother, you’re gonna die.
31) When do I start losing XP for dieing?
Level 15. There are recovery items than can recover some the lost XP. They are sold by the “Hero” NPC’s in the capitol cities and cost GOLD(not local currency). The recovery items can also drop off of mobs.
32) What is CP and how do I earn it?
Conquest or Contribution Points are what you get for completing quests or killing enemy factions. You also get a hefty sum of CP for killing an enemy control chip tower.
33) Accretia have no Spiritualists! FTW?!
Toasters are just that, non-biological entities. They have no religious or spiritual tendencies in their society. Get over it. They do have other classes under the Specialist tree that compensate however. You aren’t totally forgotten…even if you are a Toaster.
34) What are the race specific weapons?
Bellato get the MAU’s(Specialist Class), Accretia get the Launchers(Range Class), and the Cora get the Animus/Summons(Spiritualist Class)
35) Being a Cora Ranger can I summon?
No, Summoning is a Class Specific Ability, only Summoners and Garziers can Summon.
36) How do I mine?
You need two things to mine. A mining tool and a battery. Equip the mining tool when in a mining area and a little window will pop up. It will have pictures of the types of ore and a button that says “Move Mode.” Click that button and it will change to “Mining Mode.” When it says that, you are mining. If the box doesn’t come up even with the mining tool equipped, go into combat mode. There’s a button at the bottom left with some swords, click that and the box should come up. Batteries do not need to be equipped. They just have to be in your inventory. The game does the rest. The largest battery lasts Two Hours. The number displayed is the amount of seconds left for mining that that battery has. So if you’re AFK Mining, pack a lot of batteries. You mine faster the closer to the Central Mining Area you get. If you Portal Mine, or mine right near the portal, you will get one piece of Ore every 60 seconds, this is the slowest rate of mining, but is the safest(and sometimes that isn’t saying much during raids).
37) Where can I find more information?
If you are in a Guild/Faction, most of them have Forums and Web-Sites, try asking your comrades or searching their webpages. Google is also your friend. However, if that isn’t enough, you can troll the forums or try these other two sites.

38) How do I talk in Map Chat? and How do I send Tells?
To talk in Map Chat you have to type "/Map (message)" and for tells it's "/(Player) (Message)." Please note, it IS case sensative.
39) What is up with Local Currency and Gold?
Local Currency is for dealing with race vendors and is the primary currency. Gold is for special purposes and supposedly for vendors of other races. Also, the more Gold a Faction has, the lower the tax rate will be. Most people, as far as I know of, keep a good chunck of local currency and the rest is in Gold. Personaly, I keep about a mil or two in local and the rest gets converted to Gold. As for getting gold, you can either hit the Banker and click on "Exchange" or sell processed Ore. Selling processed ore, however, usualy or currently rather, results in a loss of money. The economy isn't really stable enough right now to do that and make a profit.
40) What level is CW?
Technicaly, you can do CW at ANY level. Thing is, you have to be level 25 to actualy DO DAMAGE to enemy Chip Towers. So anything bellow that is cannon fodder really. Actualy, players don't really become more than cannon fodder until about level 30. So PvP at your own risk, expect to die alot.

Happens when you get old, second thing to go is the memory...can’t ever remember what the first thing is though. Actually, there are a lot of other questions I hear, but the forum has a bunch of other guides/FAQs up, try searching them too. These are simply the questions I hear constantly and figure aren’t in those other FAQ’s or aren’t very clear in them(no disrespect to those that have written FAQs, I’ve read them, very good work ^^ ).
RFO is like any other on-line game. It takes time to get used to and even longer to master. Just remember, we were all rookies once. Just because you don’t know what you’re doing now doesn’t mean you won’t get the hang of the game, so don’t worry. If anyone else has any other bits of information they would like to share or questions, feel free to share or ask. However, if you are asking, I implore you to search around first. You’d be surprised what you can find on the internet with a little bit of work. Good hunting everyone.
41) Is this game for casual players?
Surprisingly enough, leveling to PvP level is rather quick. Add into that the ability to AFK Mine, I'd say it can cater rather well to both Casual AND Hardcore players. Now, if you play 1-2 hours a Day, don't expect to get rank very fast or be running around with the beacon of light to soon, but you should still be able to play around with others. Aside from that, if you AFK Mine while at work or spending time with the family, you'll definately have the money for equipment, so you'll always be in top shape for your level.
42) I come from XX other games. I have YY amount of Experience. I am leet. Should I buy this game?
How did you decide to buy all the other games? Whatever you did for them, do it for this one. It's still an MMORPG. Surfing the Forums should tell you what other people think. There's never a shortage of opinions on the Forums. I'm sure you can find an answer without cluttering up the forums with your gaming record. Please be kind, don't pollute the forums.
43) What class does the most damage?
In the end, it all depends on how you play and develope your character. If you want fast and mass damage, Spiritualists are great at low levels. But they are Squishy, so don't expect to tank without a hefty stack of potions. The game is designed for Teamwork really. If a couple of Level 50's square off, they will be there 'til either someone runs outta Pots, runs away, or screws up enough to get killed. One on One doesn't happen very often and usualy requires a lot of errors on One Person's Part to really go anywhere. Play what is comfortable for you or something you like.
44) They need a Windowed Mode!
Yes, that would be nice. For now, you can either hit the "Windows" Key or Alt+Tab. It doesn't always work. Most of the time the game looks like it freezes. That doesn't mean it is! It's just a display issue thing. Hit Alt+Tab again and the screen should go White for a few seconds. Afterwards the game should resume as normal. Just keep trying either the "Windows" Key or Alt+Tab 'til it works. That's all we can really do for now.

49) How do I know what level something is?
Telling what level a player is is rather difficult, until you learn the trick. Check two things. One, the armor they are wearing. I know, kinda a pain memorising every races armor. Which brings us to point two. Check their rank. Knowing these is much easier then recognising armor. If you have 2 Ranks and you see someone with 4 ranks, odds are they are gonna beat you down. All you really need to know. It's not full-proof, but the best we have to go on. Conning mobs is easier, however.
0 Dots - 7 or more levels lower then your level.
1 Dot - A level or two under you, but still gives Exp.
2 Dots - Same level as you.
3 Dots - 1 Level Higher then you.
4 Dots - 1 Level Higher then you, but tougher and more Exp. This should be your hunting target...usualy.
5 Dots - 2 Levels Higher then you.
6 Dots - 3 Level Higher then you.
7 Dots - 4 or More Levels Higher then you.
50) Where do I turn in my quests?
You don't. Once you complete a quest, the little radar thingy will pop up like it did when you were given the quest. Clicking that completes the quest and gives you your reward(s). However, if the quest gives you items and your inventory is full, the stuff will end up on the ground. So check your bags before clicking the radar dish to finish your quest!

This is a PvP game. Or more accurately, RvRvR. Also known as Realm vs. Realm vs. Realm. This means whatever race you pick, you are now in constant war with the other two races. You’re going to die...plenty of times. If the statement of PvP or RvRvR confuses you, think of RFO like this. It’s Counter-Strike for RPG’rs. Pick a side and try to kill everyone else that isn’t on your side.
2) Why does all the armor look the same?
Think of it as a military uniform. You don’t want to be flashy, conformity is the thing here, everyone should look the same in a time of war. Besides, you really don’t want to stick out in a crowd, it only means you’ll die faster.

MAU – Massive Assault Unit or Mechanized Armor Unit, depending on who you ask. Either way, it is the term for the giant Robot/Gundams that the Bellato can pilot. ONLY the Bellato can pilot them. So, don’t join the Cora or the Accretia and expect to pilot one. If this is why you wanted to play RFO, then your choice is singular. You HAVE to be Bellato and you HAVE to choose the Specialist Job Class.
Skill Points – This is the number ratio you see next to your abilities when you hit the “C” Key. It shows your proficiency in that particular skill. The higher the number, the better you are and the better the tool you can use. There are limits, and they are set by your Character Level. If you have access to an item linked to a skill, you can level it, regardless of your class. If you don’t have access to a linked item, obviously, you can’t level it.
CW – Chip War, this is the forced PvP state used in the game. Winner gets control of the Central Mine.
acc – During CW, this abbreviation is used to mean Accretia Control Chip
bcc – During CW, this abbreviation is used to mean Bellato Control Chip
ccc – During CW, this abbreviation is used to mean Cora Control Chip
Control Chip – There are towers outside of every race’s Mine Field portal that holds a Control Chip. During CW it is our job to go destroy an enemy Tower and get the Control Chip. This allows that race to gain control of the Central Mine and be Guarded by the HSK.
RL – Race Leader, we’ll cover that later.
Pots – Potions, these are your best friend, and the only means of instant recovery in RFO.
Int - Intense, referring to Armor or Weapons
Spec - Specialist Class
War - Warrior Class
Spir/Spiri - Spiritualist Class
KS - Kill Steal
4) Did we win the CW? Or Do we have control of the mine?
Odds are, you JUST logged into the game. If you open your chat box and scroll all the way to the top it will say something like, “The Holy Stone Keeper has appeared and is Hostile/Friendly with our race.” There’s your answer. If it says Hostile, your side lost the last CW; if it says Friendly, your race won the last CW. If there is no such notice, one of two things is happening. Either the CW is currently going on or will start in less than an hour. Meaning NO-ONE has control of the mine.
5) When is the next CW?
PST.......CST......EST......GMT......CET

19:00....21:00....22:00....03:00....04:00
03:00....05:00....06:00....11:00....12:00
There is a One Hour Window before the CW that the mine is free of control. Meaning, if the CW starts at 0800, at 0700 the HSK will go crazy and kill everyone at the Central Mine then disappear. It’s now a free-for-all. Go kill and be happy.
6) Why can’t I do more damage even after I leveled?
Two things. One, RFO is VERY dependant on your equipment. Make sure you are using the most up to date equipment or your damage/armor will stagnate and you’ll get your butt kicked in no time regardless of your level. Two, level your Skills/Force.
7) What is Skill/Force?
These are your abilities. “L” Key for Skills and “F” Key for Force. The more you use these things the higher their level will become. Which means they’ll recharge faster for Skills and do more Damage for Force.
8) When can I unlock the next tier of Skills/Force?
You’ll need to be at least level 28 and have a total of 30 Skill Points in that discipline over an unknown number of Skills. I’ve heard/read it be one skill, sometimes two. If someone can finally clarify this, that’d be great, if not, I guess we’ll find out when we get there. Moral of the story. All the low level skills will be your best friend for a LONG time.
9) Should I worry about PT or Character Level?
Depends on how you want to play. Some people burst through about 10 levels then go back and worry about leveling their skills. Some people level their PT’s and Character Level simultaneously. Do it however you want, but please note, if you try to party after a long drought of not working on your PT, most people will be very displeased with your fighting ability. However, excluding partying, there’s no real difference how you do it. Either way, when you’re done your PT should be good for your level.
10) I’m level 10, but my Prism Beam is still level One! I’m gimped!
No, you’re not, that’s just how it is. Skill/Force levels are entirely separate then your character level. You’re fine, calm down, go have a smoke, whatever. You’re not gimped.
11) Why does that guy/gal have a big tower of light over them?
Those people are called Race Leaders(RL’s). They are the top 5 PvP ranked players. Technicaly, the top 2 through 5 are called Archons and the number One Player is the Race Leader, but I'm YET to hear anyone address an Archon as an Archon and not a RL. They are also the one’s that can talk over Race Chat. Also known as that bright blue text that pops up in chat. They also have the power to start the voting. So, if you get this pop-up window in the middle of a fight asking a stupid question, blame it on your RL.
12) How do I resize my chat box?
Hit the “Enter” Key or click on the little talking heads in the bottom left. The Chat Box will open up. When it does, there is a pair of Up/Down arrows just bellow the “X” Button. That allows you to stretch the chat box Up and Down. Once you leave Chat mode, the Box shrinks back down and you get the crappy view once again. That’s all we get, nothing else, they haven’t changed anything yet.
13) How do I get into keyboard mode?
Hit the “H” Key.

Hit the “V” Key while in keyboard mode.
15) How do I take a Screen Shot?
Above the “Insert” Key on your keyboard, there is a button that says “Print Screen.” Hit that and it’ll take a screenshot. Screenshot in Mouse mode is Alt + 0(Zero, not on keypad). You’ll know it works when your screen pauses for a second then a line pops up in your Chat Box that says “Screenshot saved.” The Screenies are saved in the “Screenshot” Sub-Folder in your Game’s Folder. Another useful thing is Alt + "H" Key, which willr emove your HUD so you can take better pictures.
16) How do I cycle targets?
With the mouse button. We all have to pick out our targets by point-click interface.
17) How do I remap the keys?
You cannot do so at this moment in time.
18) Do I have to use the Function keys to use the skill bar?
No. Hit the “\” key and you can use the 1-0 keys instead. This and the Keyboard control mode has to be done EVERY time you log back in, as it isn’t a saved mode of play according to the game.

Wootness. Only specialists can craft. You’ll need bounty items and sometimes/at later levels processed ore items. Talk to a Sundries Dealer and they can sell you the different types of crafting tools.

Presently, Spec. can't craft good items. As in Int. and Spec weapons. But there might be hope for final Giga and the chance of making those kinds of items.
25) How do I teleport?
You have to buy specific cards from Sundries Dealers to be able to teleport in the field. And the Teleport Card to the Central Mining area currently does not work(currently as in March 5, 2006). Yes, I heard it worked during beta. Don’t ask me why it doesn’t work now. I’m sure it has been reported as a bug already, but if you want, go ahead and report it again, maybe it will be fixed during the next patch.
26) I can’t get my Force/Mellee/Range/Whatever Skill up?!
There are level caps to the Skill Points you can earn under the Character Stats Window. This will go up as your Character Level goes up. From what I understand, for Specialists, its some strange percentage with the Force Skill. I understand this to be normal and will resume climbing when you level, don’t panic. If you still think something is wrong with it, just relog, I hear that fixes a lot of problems.
27) What’s that blue bar next to my character status in the top left corner of the screen?
That is your Defence Gauge. If it’s Blue, your Defence ability and Dodge ability are at max and you will take less damage. If it’s Orange, you’ve taken damage and your Defence Rating is going down. If it’s Red, you’re screwed. Your Defence Rating is very low and you will take increased damage, be less likely to dodge, and critical strike chances are higher against you.
28) Raising Shield rating is hard.
Yes, it sucks. Most people will equip their shield and target a bunch of lowlevel mobs and let them beat the crap outta you to raise it. I hear this is effective, though you may run into some problems with other players if you take too many mobs from an area to raise your shield. So please be considerate and try not to take the WHOLE group of mobs.
29) That dude stole my kill!
Experience is granted according to how much damage you do to a target. If you did 75% of the damage and some tard comes up and smacks the thing, calm down. Either it was an accident given how hard targeting is in this game or two, they really are a tard. Either way, you still get XP for the work you did.
30) What should a lvl XX hunt?
Hitting the “J” Key brings up your quest logs. The main window is the top left button. It shows you the current quests you have been assigned. The top right button is a complete list of all available quests. Grey quests mean the mobs involved will give you very little xp. Green quests have mobs you should be fighting to lvl. The last window mentioned also tells you what level the quest is. Good bit of advice, if you are stocked up on pots, you can usually do quests 2-4 levels higher then your current character level. If the quest is yellow, it’ll be rather hard, maybe impossible depending on your current skill levels and equipment. It its red, don’t bother, you’re gonna die.
31) When do I start losing XP for dieing?
Level 15. There are recovery items than can recover some the lost XP. They are sold by the “Hero” NPC’s in the capitol cities and cost GOLD(not local currency). The recovery items can also drop off of mobs.
32) What is CP and how do I earn it?
Conquest or Contribution Points are what you get for completing quests or killing enemy factions. You also get a hefty sum of CP for killing an enemy control chip tower.
33) Accretia have no Spiritualists! FTW?!
Toasters are just that, non-biological entities. They have no religious or spiritual tendencies in their society. Get over it. They do have other classes under the Specialist tree that compensate however. You aren’t totally forgotten…even if you are a Toaster.
34) What are the race specific weapons?
Bellato get the MAU’s(Specialist Class), Accretia get the Launchers(Range Class), and the Cora get the Animus/Summons(Spiritualist Class)
35) Being a Cora Ranger can I summon?
No, Summoning is a Class Specific Ability, only Summoners and Garziers can Summon.
36) How do I mine?
You need two things to mine. A mining tool and a battery. Equip the mining tool when in a mining area and a little window will pop up. It will have pictures of the types of ore and a button that says “Move Mode.” Click that button and it will change to “Mining Mode.” When it says that, you are mining. If the box doesn’t come up even with the mining tool equipped, go into combat mode. There’s a button at the bottom left with some swords, click that and the box should come up. Batteries do not need to be equipped. They just have to be in your inventory. The game does the rest. The largest battery lasts Two Hours. The number displayed is the amount of seconds left for mining that that battery has. So if you’re AFK Mining, pack a lot of batteries. You mine faster the closer to the Central Mining Area you get. If you Portal Mine, or mine right near the portal, you will get one piece of Ore every 60 seconds, this is the slowest rate of mining, but is the safest(and sometimes that isn’t saying much during raids).
37) Where can I find more information?
If you are in a Guild/Faction, most of them have Forums and Web-Sites, try asking your comrades or searching their webpages. Google is also your friend. However, if that isn’t enough, you can troll the forums or try these other two sites.

38) How do I talk in Map Chat? and How do I send Tells?
To talk in Map Chat you have to type "/Map (message)" and for tells it's "/(Player) (Message)." Please note, it IS case sensative.
39) What is up with Local Currency and Gold?
Local Currency is for dealing with race vendors and is the primary currency. Gold is for special purposes and supposedly for vendors of other races. Also, the more Gold a Faction has, the lower the tax rate will be. Most people, as far as I know of, keep a good chunck of local currency and the rest is in Gold. Personaly, I keep about a mil or two in local and the rest gets converted to Gold. As for getting gold, you can either hit the Banker and click on "Exchange" or sell processed Ore. Selling processed ore, however, usualy or currently rather, results in a loss of money. The economy isn't really stable enough right now to do that and make a profit.
40) What level is CW?
Technicaly, you can do CW at ANY level. Thing is, you have to be level 25 to actualy DO DAMAGE to enemy Chip Towers. So anything bellow that is cannon fodder really. Actualy, players don't really become more than cannon fodder until about level 30. So PvP at your own risk, expect to die alot.
That’s about all the questions I can really think of for now. I’m sure more will come later...as I remember them anyways. Happens when you get old, second thing to go is the memory...can’t ever remember what the first thing is though. Actually, there are a lot of other questions I hear, but the forum has a bunch of other guides/FAQs up, try searching them too. These are simply the questions I hear constantly and figure aren’t in those other FAQ’s or aren’t very clear in them(no disrespect to those that have written FAQs, I’ve read them, very good work ^^ ).
RFO is like any other on-line game. It takes time to get used to and even longer to master. Just remember, we were all rookies once. Just because you don’t know what you’re doing now doesn’t mean you won’t get the hang of the game, so don’t worry. If anyone else has any other bits of information they would like to share or questions, feel free to share or ask. However, if you are asking, I implore you to search around first. You’d be surprised what you can find on the internet with a little bit of work. Good hunting everyone.
41) Is this game for casual players?
Surprisingly enough, leveling to PvP level is rather quick. Add into that the ability to AFK Mine, I'd say it can cater rather well to both Casual AND Hardcore players. Now, if you play 1-2 hours a Day, don't expect to get rank very fast or be running around with the beacon of light to soon, but you should still be able to play around with others. Aside from that, if you AFK Mine while at work or spending time with the family, you'll definately have the money for equipment, so you'll always be in top shape for your level.
42) I come from XX other games. I have YY amount of Experience. I am leet. Should I buy this game?
How did you decide to buy all the other games? Whatever you did for them, do it for this one. It's still an MMORPG. Surfing the Forums should tell you what other people think. There's never a shortage of opinions on the Forums. I'm sure you can find an answer without cluttering up the forums with your gaming record. Please be kind, don't pollute the forums.
43) What class does the most damage?
In the end, it all depends on how you play and develope your character. If you want fast and mass damage, Spiritualists are great at low levels. But they are Squishy, so don't expect to tank without a hefty stack of potions. The game is designed for Teamwork really. If a couple of Level 50's square off, they will be there 'til either someone runs outta Pots, runs away, or screws up enough to get killed. One on One doesn't happen very often and usualy requires a lot of errors on One Person's Part to really go anywhere. Play what is comfortable for you or something you like.
44) They need a Windowed Mode!
Yes, that would be nice. For now, you can either hit the "Windows" Key or Alt+Tab. It doesn't always work. Most of the time the game looks like it freezes. That doesn't mean it is! It's just a display issue thing. Hit Alt+Tab again and the screen should go White for a few seconds. Afterwards the game should resume as normal. Just keep trying either the "Windows" Key or Alt+Tab 'til it works. That's all we can really do for now.
