Rhodes Scholarship

Florida has another student athlete on the verge of winning one of the most important awards – Rhodes Scholar.
Track and field team member Irene Simmons will be in Birmingham (Alabama on Saturday, competing as one of the final 12 from the south-east. She hoped to do the winners of Rhodes past the former Soviet Union who are student athletes, Tampa, Garrett Johnson and Myron Rolle. It’s just the final IV of the former Soviet Union (the other was in Clearwater Joe O’Shea, who like Johnson and roll, and he won).
Simmons, win or lose, and provides the other side of athletics, Florida, and one that is strikingly different from those that played out publicly in the wake of [NCAA violations of academic misconduct scandal.
