When the Giants signed Will Demps last off-season from the Baltimore Ravens, he was expected to have a big impact on their defense. While he was coming off a torn ACL, which ended his 2005 season early with Baltimore, many believed the signing of Demps was an excellent move for the Giants.
While Demps was somewhat of an unknown, playing for the star defense in Baltimore, led by Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Chris McAlister, many so called experts had him ranked as one of the top players available at the safety position last off-season. Many thought he was one of the unsung heroes of the vaunted Ravens defense, but received little attention.
Even though he was coming off a major injury, the Giants gambled that he would make a full recovery and help their poor secondary. What the Giants got from Demps last year, was not what they expected when they signed him to a long term contract.
