The Pink Glove Dance is garnering much attention, with an unprecedented flair. Hospital workers, wearing pink gloves to show their support for breast cancer awareness are featured throughout the video. The pink gloves worn in the Pink Glove Dance video are from Medline who donate a portion of the sales from the gloves to promote breast cancer awareness. Staff from St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland Oregon donned pink gloves, dancing to Jay Sean's "Down.", and features over 200 employees. The Pink Glove Dance was posted on YouTube November 13 and has since gained national attention.
Within two weeks, the Pink Glove Dance drew more than one million views. According to Martie Moore, chief nursing officer at St. Vincent, “The video was a really fun and creative way for our employees to help spread awareness about breast cancer.” October was breast cancer awareness month. The Pink Glove Dance follows a national impetus to raise awareness of the disease that according to the CDC is, “the most common form of cancer in women, and…” the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women.
