Tornado warning contra costa county

Forecasters had predicted Saturday would offer the Bay Area a respite from the stormy week. Instead, it brought rain, nickel-sized hail and even a tornado warning.

The National Weather Service said at least one funnel cloud was spotted near Brentwood in eastern Contra Costa County around 1:10 p.m., prompting the agency to issue the warning of an imminent tornado touchdown. The threat eased by 2 p.m. and the warning expired.

A week of weird weather, particularly in California, continued today with a tornado warning in Contra Costa County.

A storm
system prompted the warning around 1:20 p.m, but the warning was lifted at 2PM PST. A funnel cloud was spotted in the Brentwood/Discovery Bay area, but there were no reports of the cloud touching down or causing any damage or injuries. The warning was originally slated to lift at 1:35PM local time, but was extended for an extra 25 minutes.

The storm system responsible for the warning has since lifted.
