Ethiopian Airlines Flight 409 Crash

Ethiopian Airlines Flight 409 was crashed into the Mediterranean Sea shortly after take-off on 25 January 2010. The International Flight 409 was a scheduled from Beirut, Lebanon, to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Airlines Flight was initially reported to have had 83 passengers and seven crew members. 54 of the passengers were initially reported as Lebanese.

The aircraft was bound for the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. The weather at the time was reported as stormy. The aircraft left Beirut Hariri airport at 03:10 local time (00:10 UTC) after disappeared from radar about four to five minutes.

According to BBC News, At least 21 bodies have been recovered, and there has been no news of anyone surviving the crash. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with the families of all those involved in this tragedy."
