amir khan vs salita

Amir Khan took just 76 seconds to overcome the challenge of New Yorker Dmitriy Salita in a brief but brutal first defence of his World Boxing Association (WBA) light-welterweight title at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.

Khan’s mandatory challenger, Dmitriy Salita, literally never knew what hit him, hammered to the floor three times in the opening round and beaten for the first time in 32 contests.

The young boxer from Britain has now a record of 22W-1L, with 15 knockouts. He has won four straight since being knocked out by Breidis Prescott in their clash last September 2008.

Khan’s win is such an evidence of how he has improved under Freddie Roach, the coach of eighth-time world champion Manny Pacquiao, since he suffered his first professional defeat with Prescott.

Roach intends to use Khan as a sparring partner for Pacquiao to help the Filipino pound-for-pound king prepare for his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a bout intended to happen on March 13.
