Telegraph Fire grown to 16000 acres

Mariposa County fire that has forced the evacuation of nearly 200 homes in the Midpines area, along Highway 140, about 30 miles west of Yosemite National Park.

The Telegraph Fire had grown to 16,000 acres, or 25 square miles, by last night and was threatening about 2,000 homes, said Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

An additional 2,000 homes — in Midpines, Mariposa, Greeley Hill, Coulterville, Bear Valley, and Mt. Bullion Camp — were threatened as of Saturday evening and power was out in Yosemite, according to Cal Fire.
