Anna Patterson

Anna Patterson, was more than just a staff member - she built the technology on which the search engine operates. Now, Patterson is taking on Google with her own new search engine called Cuill (pronounced cool).

Cuill is backed by $33 million in venture capital and the search engine plans to begin processing requests for the first time today. Cuill's will be able to search and index 120 billion Web pages.

Patterson says she believes that's at least three times the size of Google's index, although there is no way to know for certain. Google stopped releasing their index info about three years ago when the catalog spanned 8.2 billion Web pages.
